Do dead embryos from NFP go to heaven?

Even if a couple perform the marital act and it is completely open to life, there is a chance (I think is is even likely) that conception will take place but the embryo may not be conceived, and thus pregnancy doesn’t result in the first try. Or, when NFP is used, conception happens yet implantation doesn’t, which means the embryo dies.

My question is: since life starts at conception, would all those embryos which die go to heaven?
If so, that must mean that there are millions of babies that couples never knew they had and they are waiting for them in heaven.

This original post is a little confusing. Does NFP mean natural family planning in your post? Natural family planning prevents conception and not implantation. Maybe you are thinking of the pill that prevents implantation and not conception–but this is not a form of natural family planning.
There is a human being there from conception. I will let others here cover this though.
There is no definite answer where unbaptized babies go. But since they have not committed any sins, they would go to a place of happiness. Catholics used, up to some decades ago, to speak of limbo in this regards, a place of natural happiness where unbaptized babies go. But limbo was never Catholic doctrine, only a supposition. Maybe they do go to heaven, for all I can say myself.
I think you are right. Many of those who go to heaven will learn about the babies they never knew existed.

Scientifically speaking… What you suggest would be* like* a miscarriage… A baby that is only 3 weeks in the womb may die and the mother has a miscarriage… That baby would be at God’s mercy and I believe would be in Heaven. >> I have a Grand-daughter that was miscarried, I truly believe she is in Heaven.

Can you clarify what you mean by “when NFP is used” ?
Any child that does not implant is a miscarriage or “spontateous abortion” in the medical usage. We don’t know what happens to thoses souls exactly. We trust them to the mercy of God whom we know to be all good and just.

Limbo, that part of hell that’s not heaven but happy. Although that’s a postulation now. IF God is as loving as some say Heaven probably. I personally am not sure, after all baby killing occurred in the old testament…

Lol, the word “embryo” means it’s ALREADY conceived. Before it’s an embryo, it’s an egg and a sperm that haven’t joined yet. When they join, that’s when an embryo (human being) is formed, and that’s conception.

NO, unfertilized eggs and sperm don’t go to heaven. They are not human until they join together during conception.

Sorry about my ambiguity. Yes, by NFP I mean natural family planning.
I am not sure exactly how NFP works, so I wasn’t sure whether conception takes place in NFP. So now I know, that NFP prevents conception - thanks.

Yeah, sorry. I should have written instead of “but the embryo may not be conceived”, “a conception has taken place BUT pregnancy has not resulted”

Thanks Everyone:thumbsup:

Obscenely shortened version of NFP: Sperm are not mobile inside a woman in the absence of fertile mucus in which they can swim freely. Even if a woman did have an abnormal cycle and ovulate without fertile symptoms, it is quite unlikely that the egg and sperm would meet in the very short lifespan that the sperm have without the presence of fertile mucus.

But for sake of discussion, let’s say it’s 1 in a million and DID happen. Reasoning from science, it appears that conception (the joining of sperm and egg) is the moment when a change in SUBSTANCE occurs. Since every change after that appears to be a mere change in developmental stage, we must assume that conception is when a person comes to be a person. If by some chance, it does occur, that would be a miscarriage. Sadly, miscarriages occur all the time. But I wouldn’t allow yourself to get anxious worrying about whether you’ve had a baby and miscarried without ever knowing it. If they are out there, they are in GOOD hands! 👍

NFP doesn’t prevent conception. NFP is used to take advantage of naturally fertile or infertile times. NFP can be used to increase or decrease the chance of pregnancy depending on a couple’s current situation.

Once conception has taken place then the woman is pregnant. Conception is the first stage of pregnancy; implantation is a later stage.

Our souls, given by God, return to God.
You will have to elaborate because your statement is not clear as to what it covers.
The soul of anyone who dies in a state of unrepented mortal sin does NOT return to God but goes to Hell for eternity.
