That’s nonsense. I do not want to be addicted to pornography. I know that God does not want me to be either. God does not will it, it is the sum results of my choices that have created this situation.

Plenty of people allow things they don’t want. Plenty of people do things they don’t actually want to be doing.

it is a problem of interpretation, and this is a debate in the Church because we change our Father in several languages today because the authentic version no longer corresponds to the current modernist mentality.
Here is the traditional interpretation. Do not let us succumb to temptations

A. We are bound to avoid occasions of sin because Our Lord has said: “He who loves the danger will perish in it”; and as we are bound to avoid the loss of our souls, so we are bound to avoid the danger of their loss. The occasion is the cause of sin, and you cannot take away the evil without removing its cause.
it is not our mission to tempt ourselves, it is the mission of God. For it is God who knows when temptation will be good for our salvation. If we could know it, then we could even go to temptation without sinning

I hold several advanced degrees in Catholic Theology, Catholic Moral Theology and Sacred Scripture and I know of no “debate” over the meaning of the Our Father. Nor, do I no of any credible teaching authority in the Catholic Church who claims that God, Himself, wants us to be tempted.

I take it you’ve never deal with addiction before?

If you have, then what could possess you to say something like that? If you haven’t, as I’m sure you haven’t, then you don’t have the slightest clue what you’re talking about.

have you read St. Alphonsus Ligori (Church Doctor) about the demand in our Father about temptation? I advise you to read it

The secret of true freedom, and true peace, is to believe that everything that happens, absolutely everything, is the will of God. Either an absolute will, or a permission will.
This truth totally freed me, thank God, for making me discover it, by reading the fathers and doctor of the Church who spoke about it. The current modernist pastoral where God is presented to us as a “good father who does not punish” is a complete abberation, which leads to obvious contradictions.

I’ve read it. What is the point you are attempting to make?

Read it when he comments in our father’s part about temptation. I’m french speakingotherwise I would have given you the links about that

Then it must be God’s will that you are unable to show us any official Church teaching that supports your claim that “God wants us to be tempted.” Ironic. Isn’t it? 😎

I promise you, I will look for references and I will give them to you. I can not do it now (it will take time) and you could use the google translator to read them (these are references in French)

Why would a demon, rebellious against God’s will by nature, do God’s will?
Notions like this really put God’s omniscience into perspective. Satan would seem to become a mere pawn who is ultimately used in the service of God’s glory. Just like in the book of Job when Satan ultimately fails to break Job, and Job becomes a stronger man.

But my line of thinking here relies on the ‘question of evil’ being settled as God allowing evil to exist because He can bring a greater good from it anyway. But I don’t think that the question of evil is settled at all. So in that case, we are free to speculate.

But, what good comes from the eternal damnation of a soul?
