I’m just wondering…I understand that the very basic hygiene products such as toothpaste and deodorant are probably provided to them, but how do they afford other necessities like medicines and things like writing supplies (as I understand it, various nuns such as St. Teresa of Avila were writers)?
I have contemplated becoming a nun for about a year, however, I have medical problems (severe eczema that I need salve for, a monthly injection medicine that I get from the doctor, etc.) so it’s important to know that I’ll have access to those things regularly. I would also like to continue my hobby of religious writing, should I be accepted…will I be able to get typewriter ribbon, paper, etc.?
Not to mention the fact that I have a mountain of dental problems that I don’t know how I’m going to take care of once I quit my job to join the convent (I will need continuous dental work).
So it’s not payment I need, just access to mainly the things I’ve mentioned.
Any helpful advice is appreciated. Thank you.
