I know only God knows and can judge, but I want to know people’s opinions.

Do ex catholics who become “born again” make it to heaven.

My priest has a great saying,“They are exchanging gold for sand”

I find the ones who dislike Catholics the most are the ones who were once Catholic.

One thing I must admit. They sure know the bible. However, I feel that even though I may not know every bible story or can’t quote the bible, I have a certain understanding of it that they don’t . Does that make any sense?

No. They have to watch cricket eight hours a day for the rest of eternity. :bigyikes: :rotfl: 😉

Catholics who are validly baptised are already “born again” through water and the Spirit (John 3:5). I presume you mean Catholics that become the type of Protestant that calls themselves “Born Again Christians.”

Here is what the Catechism says:
** 846** How are we to understand this affirmation, often repeated by the Church Fathers?335 Re-formulated positively, it means that all salvation comes from Christ the Head through the Church which is his Body:
Basing itself on Scripture and Tradition, the Council teaches that the Church, a pilgrim now on earth, is necessary for salvation: the one Christ is the mediator and the way of salvation; he is present to us in his body which is the Church. He himself explicitly asserted the necessity of faith and Baptism, and thereby affirmed at the same time the necessity of the Church which men enter through Baptism as through a door. Hence they could not be saved who, knowing that the Catholic Church was founded as necessary by God through Christ, would refuse either to enter it or to remain in it.336
335 Cf. Cyprian, Ep. 73.21:PL 3,1169; De unit.:PL 4,509-536.
336 LG 14; cf. Mk 16:16; Jn 3:5.

First of all, their baptism made them ‘born again’ - they just have exchanged their birth right for bad theology. pray for them…

hopefully they will get to heaven, they are still Christians, after all, but you are right…only God will judge…

personally, I think they won’t have to watch cricket for all eternity…they will have to watch C-span…

Naah…If they’re women, they have to watch continuous Three Stooges shorts, and the men will have to watch non-stop romantic comedies.

I wouldn’t risk it, myself.

Yes, if it is sincere. By knowing Christ more personally they move closer to the fullness of the Catholic Church, not farther away.

How do they know Him more personally if they embrace falsehoods about Him? If you knew the truth about me would you know me better than if you only knew stuff some guy made up that was false? Likewise how can one know Him any more personally than Holy Communion?

God will judge if it is mortal, but objectively by leaving the Church one has committed a very grave sin.

Also, they don’t know the Bible. If they did, they would never have left. They know a twisted interpretation of the Bible, that’s it.

Perhaps they took the Eucharist with their bodies, and not with their hearts. Perhaps they knew not the Christ they knew of. Perhaps knowing Christ is more important than knowing doctrines of him.

I would rather none leave the church, but I would much rather all know the Christ the Church serves.

😦 I like C-Span and cricket! 😦 Does that mean I am damned (as in “condemned” not the other sense)?

No, you’d enjoy the condemnation too much!
