If I fail to act, is that God failing to act in me? Who pays for that one on Judgment Day? :bigyikes:

Grace is the spiritual warewithal that comes to us from God to aid us in doing good. In the end, we are the ones to will ourselves to action.

I’ve often thought that the same elements that constitute mortally sinful behavior are the same elements that are necessary for virtuous behavior:

1. Serious Matter
2. Sufficient Reflection
3. Full Consent of the Will

Mortal sin is a state where the relationship to God is broken. Only God and the person that dies knows if this is true. I suspect, since God is merciful, only God knows. Anyway, it says in the Catechism that God, with His mercy can let someone into heaven no matter what. His choice, not yours, or the Church’s.

I believe that a grave sin can break the relationship to God. Consider Peter, denying Jesus. Probably did not break the relationship Peter had with Jesus. Peter is probably not in hell. No record of Peter going to confession either.
