Show me ANY church document that supports materialistic evolution - that is without God.
This Link is from catholic.com. As it was explained to me in Catholic High School, The Church doesn’t mandate a certain way that God created the universe.

In my opinion, it is important that we keep and open mind and learn as much as we can about God and his works. I like studying astronomy because I find it strengthens my faith. The more I learn about the universe, the closer I feel to God.

There is a very interesting example of Darwinian natural selection happening right now in the North Atlantic fisheries. Cod fishermen have long used nets which allow small cod to pass through, while trapping the larger fish. One of the reasons for this was to allow the younger fish to grow to adulthood before they were taken,

However, after years of taking large fish, the smaller adult population continued to pass through the nets. This gave the genetically smaller fish more opportunity to reproduce since they weren’t on the dinner table. Larger fish were caught, while their smaller brethren continued to reproduce, and pass on smaller genes.

The end result has been a significant change in the average size of a cod. That’s it. Some situation favors one trait over another and those with that trait thrive while those without the trait do not.

Hear, hear! 👍

Although it was not my major, the astronomy class I took (at a Catholic university, btw) was one of my favorite courses ever. The professor, by all accounts a devout Catholic, never once shied away from current cosmological theories – including the Big Bang.

When we stayed up until 3 a.m. to see Jupiter and its moons through the telescope, it gave a profound sense of humility. Whenever I learn more about the complexities of the universe, I am moved to think, “What an unspeakably awesome God he must be to create such wonders!”

Peace,
Dante

When did teenagers have rights? (Oh yea, when I was a teen)😛
Only your parents have such authority- talk to them as already suggested.

Take the class. Enjoy the discussion. Listen to any and all theories. Others already posted correctly that evolution is not discounted, but neither is it accepted. There are many mysteries we might not ever fully understand, but by avoiding the discussion we limit our own ability to decide with knowledge.

I call myself an “old Earth” Creationist with respect to the formation of the universe and think life was Created much as we know of it as described in Genesis. I accept species adaptation, but not evolution as described by Darwin/Dawkins. I still maintain we were a created being, not an evolutionary one, and all that Darwin suggests as proof with regard to the evolutionay changes and the time required to evolve such changes to take place does not add up.

It will only be against your faith if you loose your faith becasuse you accept the explaination that G-d had nothing to do with it.
