My wife and her family are born again Christians. I stopped going to Catholic Church because my wife didn’t agree with it. She attended Mass with me for seven years. We even got married in the Catholic Church and baptized are daughter too. We recently have moved and we are closer in proximity to her parent’s house. Since she attended church with me for so long, she now had convinced me to join her at a non-denominational christian church. Its fine. I enjoy the music, the “message” they like to call it and our daughter enjoys the sunday school. So now I am really starting to look deeper into the bible. Great! but I still have my Catholic routes. My wife and her family absolutely disagree with Catholicism as do most “Christians”, I don’t think there is anything wrong with me learning more about the bible and certainly think that I have grown closer to Jesus but i still believe in Catholicism. So being more in tune with the bible, does that mean I have to give up on Catholics and discredit what is taught in the Church?

Dear friend,

What you really need to do is look deeper into the origins of the Bible that is so intriguing you. You will find that it is the product of the Catholic Church. I suggest that you get the book, “Where We Got the Bible.” by Henry Graham. You can order it though shopcatholic.com. Jesus did not leave a book; He left a Church.

Going to a church service with enjoyable music and a nice message is LIGHT YEARS away from being present for the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross, which is what the Mass is. When we see the body and blood of Jesus in the form of bread and wine (by His design), separate from each other on the altar, the reality of His saving act (His suffering and death), which transcends time, enters our lives in a very personal and concrete manner through the Eucharist. There is simply nothing on the face of the earth that can equal this—nothing!

Most Christians in the world do not disagree with Catholicism-- because they themselves are Catholics. Catholics were the first Christians and their world-wide numbers still predominate. They are not split into thousands of dissident groups because of differing interpretations of Scripture. They are united in ONE faith under the authority given to St. Peter and his successors.

You have so much to learn about your greatest treasure. Check out our tracts:
