My wife and I are extremely interested in becoming Catholic and getting our two children baptized as well. My entire family is Catholic, however my parents never baptized me as a child. My father, who was raised Catholic chose not to baptize me but now regrets it. He too wants to get back involved in the church. I am 33 years old, and want to start the process. I’ve been reading, talking with family members and definitely want to make the commitment. I just recently spoke to the local Catholic Church and learned about the commitment of the RCIA process for adults. This is my problem, I am completely willing to put the time in learning about the Catholic faith but my job posses an issue. I work lots of overtime and am “on call” two nights out of the week. I was told there are weekly classes and that I must attend these classes for possibly over a year. I am totally willing to put time in and learn but attending weekly classes is hard for me as I have two small children that are in school, enrolled in dance and other activities. Finding this information out was extremely disappointing as I was very excited to join the Catholic Church and be part of it all with the rest of my family. Are there any other alternatives for people with similar situations such as “homework” type studying? Possibly every other week sessions? Any information would be greatly appreciated.
