Speed limit 30km/h, I was going 41km/h.
I didn’t have the intention to speed?
I can’t remember if I slowed down after realizing that this was speed zone but I never speed or have the intention of speeding on playground and school zones.
Am I still guilty?
Second question: why does police officer take picture as soon as you enter speed limit zone and not in the middle where he would get the most accurate reading (speed and intention).
How can I go and not pay for my speeding ticket? I have a part time job and this really is too much to pay for me.

This is not a moral theology question. If you feel you have grounds to fight the ticket, do so.

if you want to keep your license pay the ticket
if you think you have grounds to beat it, go to court and state your case, with a lawyer if need be

this is not a matter of moral theology but of common sense. you were speeding
you are assumed to be in control of your vehicle, hence, to know how fast you are going
if you are not in control of your vehicle and cannot judge your speed, you have bigger problems

That’s an admission of guilt. Intent matters to God, not to the Government, at least not the Government where I live.

I suggest that you render unto Ceasar what is Ceasars and move on with your life. It’s the cost of doing business out on the roads.

I got pulled over yesterday. I sped up from 55 MPH to scoot past someone just as the limit was dropping from 55 MPH to 45 MPH and they clocked me at 63. I also did not have the intention to speed but they had me dead to rights.

I had a copy of Little Office of the Blessed Virgin Mary on the seat and think that he may have been Catholic cause he let me go. 👍

Yes one is obliged to pay the ticket.

One may though attend the hearing and ask the judge for it to be forgiven.

Some states also allow you to take defensive driving in lieu of paying the ticket. Of course, you must pay for the defensive driving course.

So what? That is not relevant. You were, in fact, speeding. You therefore received a ticket.

If you do not pay the ticket you will have to deal with the legal consequences of that choice.

This is not a moral question. This is a legal question. We cannot give legal advice on this forum. Seek legal advice from a legal professional.

Be a man. Pay the ticket and move on. We’ve all gotten them before, they stink. but in the long run, who cares? One speeding ticket won’t keep you out of a job or get you to death row.

I think you meant some particular part of his question.

But I wanted to add that it is a moral question…one is morally obliged to pay the ticket or do an alternative as you suggested that may be allowed by the State…or be forgiven by the Judge.

Accept the fact that you did the wrong thing, don’t excuse yourself because what you described isn’t a valid excuse. Anyone can plead they didn’t mean to even if they hit and killed someone by being over the speed limit.
You have a responsibility to pay. If you have difficulty in paying, request that you pay in instalments. It is a question of morality. To not pay a legitimate fine, and this is, is theft.
The bible teaches that we must pay what is owed to temporal authorities.

*Romans 13:*7 “Give everyone what you owe him: If you owe taxes, pay taxes; if revenue, then revenue; if respect, then respect; if honor, then honor.”

Mark 12:13-17 " Later they sent some of the Pharisees and Herodians to Jesus to catch him in his words. They came to him and said, “Teacher, we know that you are a man of integrity. You aren’t swayed by others, because you pay no attention to who they are; but you teach the way of God in accordance with the truth. Is it right to pay the imperial tax** to Caesar or not? Should we pay or shouldn’t we?”
But Jesus knew their hypocrisy. “Why are you trying to trap me?” he asked. “Bring me a denarius and let me look at it.”They brought the coin, and he asked them, “Whose image is this? And whose inscription?” “Caesar’s,” they replied.
Then Jesus said to them, “Give back to Caesar what is Caesar’s and to God what is God’s.”

God bless you**

Human law is man’s participation in God’s Divine Law and is informed by the natural law.
CCC 1902 Authority does not derive its moral legitimacy from itself. It must not behave in a despotic manner, but must act for the common good as a “moral force based on freedom and a sense of responsibility”:
Code:
A human law has the character of law to the extent that it accords with right reason, and thus derives from the eternal law. Insofar as it falls short of right reason it is said to be an unjust law, and thus has not so much the nature of law as of a kind of violence.
Thus it is a moral question. Study harder, young padawans.

I think we’d all agree that the “justness” or “unjustness” of the law is not in question in this instance. So…it does not seem to be a moral matter whether or not the OP is guilty or not…clearly it is a case of guilt.

If it were an unjust law or an excessive fine…let’s use the extreme example of loss of driver’s license and a $1000 fine for such an offense, then it may be a moral issue as to whether the punishment fits the crime.

A bit of advice; if you cannot afford a ticket, pay attention to the speed limit or stay off the roads.

You should not be trying to “get out” of paying a ticket for which you are clearly guilty.

You admitted you were going faster than the limit. Therefore, you were speeding. If you cannot remember if you slowed down, then you likely do not have an argument! You may not have the intention of speeding, but you were speeding! So therefore you are guilty.

Just pay it and next time slow down and pay closer attention to what you are doing!

Speeding is speeding, intention has nothing to do with it. The police take your picture as you enter the speed zone because you should have already slowed down by the time you reached it. Here in my county, if you go to traffic court, you will most likely have the fine reduced by half; check with them and see if you can make payments.
