Do i have to read NT in order?

im up to Luke and im having a hard time repeating reading what i just read. i feel like thats going to hinder me getting the hidden message.

I planned on reading Luke then Jumping to Acts.

but i need to read something else right now. what do you guys recommend?

do any books have one to do with the other. i know they all have to do with each other but do any go hand in hand with each other? (aside from Luke & Acts)

its just i am starting to finish the passages before Luke because I just read it in Matthew. so i need a little break.
 
Ask you Bishop for the reading for the day, then read the whole chapter. In aperiod of 3 years you will have covered the whole of the NT.

No, the pericope is not in order of scripture, it is in order of liturigal season. (that is you will be reading about Christ’s birth during advent and Christmas, his passion and death during lent and resurection during Easter
 
Keep in mind that the New Testament is not a book, it’s a collection. Each of the books is a distinct text - different writers, different contexts. So no, there is no need to read straight through from Matthew to Revelation - even if you feel strongly about not dipping in and out of books randomly, at most you might feel you should read from chapter 1 to the end of an individual book.

Personally I’d start with Ephesians. 😃

That is a good thing that you want to keep reading. May the Good Lord bless that reading.

Maybe you might try reading a good commentary the way Kretzmann’s commentary (www.kretzmannproject.org) is laid out. He quotes a few passages and the comments on the, it is a running commentary with lots of cross references. It also has good background introductions to each book.

Yes, Pauls letters are laid out differently than the Gospels. Anyway, while I would not necessarily read the Bible in order, I would try to read the whole of the topic treated so I can understand the context.

Ah-Luke -Acts! Excellent.Exactly the way they are supposed to be read- in tandem. Luke is the only book in the NT with a sequel.! I think you may benefit from not reeading gospel after Gospel. I think when you do that you may not see the uniqueness of each Gospel as clearly.Take a breather in the OT or read an inspirational book like an imitation of Christ. Or just use some brain candy.When I give myself a short break I get more out of a reading then ploughing through it.

im gonna try eph, also going to psalms everytime i know my brains needs a break, but my soul just wants to keep reading.
