Do I have to wear a saints medal?

This is probably a scrupulous question.
But have a few different saints I have been asking for intercession from. But I get anxious because I don’t wear any of their medals or have all of their holy cards! I know this probably sounds ridiculous.

But if i’m not bearing a particular saints image or have a statue of them in the house does that mean I’m not fully devoted to them or fit to ask of their intercession? I just want to give sure honor.

No, you do not.

It seems like your scruples are leading you into superstition…

Do you have a spiritual father?

You don’t have to. Medals and prayer cards are useful because they help. They remind us of heavenly things. But you don’t have to.

Thank you for your charity. I hope you treat others with the same gentleness. I will go with the answer of the guy before you.

okay thanks 🙂
Makes sense. I mean I guess we pray to the Holy Spirit and Christ but yet don’t need to constantly wear or carry an outward sign of both of them to show them our love.

He may not have worded it well, but he does have a point. If you think scruples are having a negative impact on your faith life you should contact your priest.

Seriously, I think Dan Defender said it best. All I needed. Thanks everyone.

You needn’t trouble yourself about such things. Be at peace.

I don’t think I even have a medal or holy card of my “go to” Saints – the ones I talk with the most and the ones whose intercession I ask the most. 🥺

Our brothers and sisters in Heaven don’t mind. They just love us because God loves us.

And you can be assured of their prayers, whether you are sitting in a chapel dedicated to them while wearing their medal and holding their prayer card, or whether you are suddenly thinking of them at work and say a quick prayer for their assistance and then immediately get back to work and forget all about them.

For me, it’s a whole lot of Teresa’s. 😄

St Teresa of Avila
St Therese of Lisieux
St Teresa of Calcutta
St Teresa of the Andes

Three of them are Carmelites, and I love their spirituality. I had the privilege of meeting Mother Teresa when she was in Denver in 1989, and that had a huge impact on me.

Yes its scrupulous, but you seem to have an awareness you can run to scruples, by your opening comment. You do not have to wear any medals, rosaries, scapulars. You don’t have to carry holy cards, You don’t need anything to worship God, except yourself.

Sophie was saying that. Our tone does not communicate over the written medium. I did not read Sophie as being harsh at all.

A sure way to honor the saints interceding for you is to get to know them. By asking for their prayers, you have opened that conversation. You could also read their lives and what they have written and what has been written about them. Your relationship will grow.
