From the time he sent the paperwork to the Archdiocese to the time he received the decision was about 23.5 months. I am just wondering why it should take so long.
Nope…he said this:
Day 1: March 1 (the day I got my initial annulment paperwork). I have already completed the initial forrms and mailed them into the Archdiocese of the Military Services. We’ll see how the military archdiocese compares to a typical archdiocese with regards to speed of processing.
He wrote this on March 4.

THEN the witnesses have to be contacted and give their testimony, which is usually a HUGE bulk of time. We don’t know how long it took for them to compile all the testimony, do further investigation, and go through the process. Then it was sent for second instance to another diocese.

Why in the world should it take two years to make such a decision?
The Church takes these issues VERY seriously. Also, the Tribunal can be overwhelmed with requests for annulments - the OP was not the ONLY case this Tribunal was judging.

Congratulations to the OP, glad you came back to update us!

Have you had your convalidation yet?

Your wife should be happy.

I have not had the Convalidation yet but I am meeting with a priest on that issue next week. My marriage has been under tremendous strain since this whole process began.

Let me be frank. At the time that I learned I needed an annulment way back in Jan 2010, my son had just been born and my wife and I were closer than we’ve ever been. But when I learned that I was in an invalid marriage and needed an annulment, I was crushed. We both were. I could not fathom not receiving the Eucharist. Therefore, I told my wife that we needed to live as brother and sister so that I could receive the sacraments. I began sleeping in a different room of the house and made sure never to see her in an immodest state. Obviously this whole arrangement was a bomb blast to the marriage. I was willing to do it for the sake of my Faith, or so I thought. But maybe I was being selfish.

The bottom line is that my wife and I still don’t sleep together nor have sex. Therefore the convalidation has not been a high priority. I want that to change. I am hoping that the Convalidation will open the door for our geting our marriage where it needs to be, and as God intended

I strongly advise you to seek marital counseling with your wife. No, you were not being selfish. I truly admire you for what you did. I know it wasn’t easy. You can work this out! I’ll be praying for you.

Congratulations (is that an appropriate sentiment for annulment?) on the annulment! Your fidelity to the Church is inspiring, especially in such trying circumstances. Thank you for being a good witness to the faith and thank you for the sacrifices that you have made for it! I know that all is not roses right now - I hope the convalidation comes soon and is the beginning of a new, positive chapter for you and your wife. I will pray for your marriage.

Oh dear. 😦 Well, that’s not good news, but at least you are still together, and there is hope. Will she reconcile now or do you think you will need to go to a marriage counselor? I will sure put you in my prayers.

It often takes this amount of time because of the quantity of applications for annulment coming in, as well as the limited amount of people working on the cases. I had a friend who told me she submitted mid January and there were already about 50 cases ahead of hers submitted for her area.

Just checking out your website - looks good! We’ve got 2 GF sons and have been doing this for 12 years now (amazing!). We went fully GF when our older son went on the diet and it’s been both more expensive and easier, and the boys have a GF haven at home, they can eat anything in the house (except for hubby’s breakfast cereal). It’s not easy to make the change but I haven’t ever regretted it. So many good products now - it’s a lot easier than it used to be.

Now back to your regular programming…
