On last Sunday, when I came to the toilet, I heard a sad conversation. Both of them don’t aware that I am in the toilet.

Ms. Y: What’s the result?
Sister M: They want me to admit for a detail health check.
Sister M: I just blame her don’t be fantasy, why should LORD punish me that heavy?

They came out then.

During the Easter Mass, I saw a 3D Jesus projection standing in fount of the big cross which just erected up by the priest and helper. This projection is so real and when I come and bow to the big cross, my head warm and I feel comfortable. To be evidence based, I asked sister M if the church ever used a 3d hologram projector during the mass. She asked me don’t be fantasy.

In the past, during the Catechumenate, sister M told us that she think one of the church member has mental illness because this member go to confession too much.

I am not baptized yet, so I cannot go to confession yet. Now, I dare not go to confession even if I got baptized in future. This will risk me of being related to mental illness.

I really feel sad. I don’t understand why sister M will vent her anger on me. Her illness is NOT my fault.

I really want to change to a new church and Catechumenate. However, this will waste the time I spend on this class.

I have some plans…
  1. Just switch to a new church and start the Catechumenate again.
or
  1. Keep go to this Catechumenate and get baptize after one year, then either stay in this church or switch to a new church.
or
  1. Just switch to either Christian church or Anglican church.
I really sad now, I can only pray LORD to help me now.

Think twice, this sister has her own burden. I should forgive her. I think LORD will help her.

I am sorry that happened to you. Finish your catechumate, receive baptism and switch to a parish where you feel more comfortable. Yes, forgiving her is a good idea. God bless you and welcome to our faith.

We do not base our faith and commitment to Christ and His church based on gossip.
All you have here is gossip.
You don’t have any idea what those people were talking about, and the that person who gossiped about another person who may be suffering mental illness is wrong to talk about it as well.
Get a good spiritual mentor. Your RCIA team should have assigned a person to walk the faith journey with you. Your sponsor.
Get with them, learn from them, ask pertinent questions about FAITH, and stay where you are.
You have much to lean and it’s an amazing and beautiful journey.
Welcome home.

For the mental illness man part, this is not gossip. This sister mentioned them in front of the whole class of catechumenate. She accused someone of mental illness without any medical and psychological evidence. I don’t think go to confession necessarily means suffer from mental illness. As a sister, this is not nice.

For the RCIA team issue, honestly speaking, I just need to attend the class every Sunday. No mentor assigned specially for me. I got no sponsor as well. I was told that we just need a sponsor just right before baptism for the ceremony purpose. I even need to google search for the best English bible version myself! So as the faith question.

You need a sponsor now.
Speak to your RCIA Director.
The sponsor walks the path with you in faith. The RCIA team is supposed to provide you ith one.
God luck!

I was told that we just need a sponsor just right before baptism for the ceremony purpose.

I don’t know how to contact RCIA team. I only know the contact of the priest and the sister. I even doubt if RCIA team really exist in my country.

Now, I even doubt that if I can really get baptized. It is because I don’t know how to get a sponsor myself. I wonder if I can still get baptized even if I fail to find a sponsor myself. That’s why I will consider switch to a new church such as Christian church or Anglican church.

It’s true that the sponsor is only REQUIRED for the Baptism, but it’s best to have one now to help you.

Schedule an appointment to speak with the Priest.

Please do NOT worry about this. Many Catholics do not know an appropriate person to ask to be a sponsor. In these instances, often a Deacon, Priest or lay person from the Church can be your sponsor. I’ve heard of a Deacon and his wife who were sponsors to over 50 people. Again, please talk to your priest about all of you concerns. I know he will help you.

God Bless and may The Lord bring you wisdom and peace.

Sister should not have told you this. However, what she most likely meant is there is a condition called scrupulosity. People who are scrupulous have a very hard time and it could be considered a slight mental disorder.

Priests sometimes tell scrupulous people to not come to confession as often as they do. This happens when the scrupulous person comes to confession often but hasn’t committed any sins or only has a few venial sins.

Scrupulous people have a hard time determining what is a sin and what isn’t. They also have a tendency to think they have sinned just because a bad/unwanted thought comes into their head.

Anyway, most likely, this is what Sister was talking about. The Pope goes to Confession every week, so don’t let anyone tell you that going to Confession often is bad thing. 🙂

God Bless

I know someone at my parish who is scrupulous. Unless you are constantly worried about whether everything you do is sinful, that is not you. If you find yourself posting on this forum with he question :Is x a sin" regularly, that is a bad sign. Going to confession regularly however is praiseworthy. Don’t let what anyone else thinks of you for doing so put you off. I go to confession weekly. And I don’t care what anyone thinks about that (though my confessor actually says he respects me more for doing so, so not everyone has a negative attitude to regular confession). Persevere, get confirmed, then go to another parish if you prefer. But go to confession anytime you need to. Its a lot less painful weekly than annually.
