Hi everyone,

Well I was very tempted to masturbrate earlier, and my hands were not where they were supposed to be, but I said “this is a sin” and I didn’t do anything. But something is bugging me that I did something wrong. I struggle with my scruples. I don’t know if I committed a mortal sin or not. Please help me!

I wouldn’t say it’s a mortal sin- it was lacking full consent of the will. Also, you didnt really do anything to make it a mortal sin. You didn’f follow theough with the intention. The worst you did was have your hands in a bad spot. But, it’s most likely still a venial sin, so it should still be confessed.

I’m no expert though, so see what others have to say as well. But you saw my answer 👍

On another note- good job staying strong and not giving into the flesh. I know how tempting that can be and you resisted very well (even if you were close to giving in). Good job! 🙂

You were dwelling on the matter but you eventually resisted the temptation after a struggle. It was a close run thing, but I think you scraped through on this one.

Temptation is a very unsettling thing and you are clearly very unsettled. You might want to seek advice from your confessor about exercises to strengthen your resolve but I don’t think you actually sinned, although obviously I don’t know - or want to know (!) - exactly how far you went.

Discuss it with a priest if you can. For now though, I’m pretty sure there’s no mortal element to what you did, since you didn’t actually end up doing it.

Trust me on this: you’re very definitely not alone in this type of struggle, even if you feel very lonely about it now. This sort of temptation attacks pretty much all of us. I’d be astonished if there were more than a handful of people who haven’t given in to it at one time or another. Your priest will have heard this many times before and won’t be embarrassed to help you.

Temptation does not equal sin. You resisted therefor you did not sin. Stay strong, God is pleased that you choose not to act upon the temptation.

>>If your husbands around, start out that way, and then go find him. 🙂 If not, just asking the question probably means something is just not quite right in your spiritual life and confession on a regular basis would be a good idea. My two cents…
