My four year old sister sometimes says things that make us think she might see Jesus or Mary.

One time, when she was 3, she was running around playing and laughing at a birthday party. Out of nowhere, she stopped and kneeled and put her hands in prayer and looked attentively at a tree and her lips looked like she was praying. Then she got up and kept running around. I was there but didnt see her; my mom and dad saw her but I think they said when they asked her about it she didnt say much.

She kneels and prays out of nowhere often. but it lasts maybe half a minute and shes off running around.

Two months ago, my mom and little sister arrived at a birthday party. My sister was asleep on arrival and woke up when the truck parked. When my mom was getting her down my sister immediately started saying she was scared and she didnt want to go in to the house no matter what my mom told her about cake and pinata and candy. She knows the house well. She enjoys going there so my mom didnt understand. My mom took her in anyway and my sister continued to say she was scared and she wanted to leave. They walked into a bedroom to try to calm her down (just mom and her) and my sister would look around the room frightened and say she was scared. This ‘scary’ feeling lasted about 30 minutes. My mom started praying and asking that Jesus lift the scared feeling from my sister. Then out of nowhere my sister stood up and said, “Come on, Mom. Let’s go.” She was no longer scared and she was completely normal and she started running around and playing with her cousins.

A couple days later, my mom asked her what had happened. She said she had been scared but Jesus put water in her eyes and she was no longer scared. My mom asked her if she saw Jesus. She said yes. Mom asked her what he looked like and she said he had red on his forehead. (We think maybe she is trying to say Jesus had blood on his forehead from crown of thorns?) She also drew on paper that he had rays around him. To better explain to mom she said he looked like in a certain picture in the living room. But when she went to the living room to show mom the rays around Jesus, she didn’t seem very convinced as if the picture wasn’t doing justice. The image in the living room is that of the Divine Mercy. The image of the Divine Mercy only has a glow around Jesus.

So, is my little sister just using her imagination? Or could it be true? I know no one on here can say, she is for sure telling the truth. BUT is it possible?

At 3 or 4 years old, I think it’s healthy, as long as the prayer or experience or conversation or whatever, doesn’t become showy and ritualistic or something like that where it looks like she’s doing it to draw attention to herself – or to withdraw from others or situations.

IOW if she sees some image of Jesus or Mary in her imagination, that helps her process the moment in such a way as to reduce her anxiety, then she has tasted the goodness of the Lord. If not in “reality” then at least in her mind – where the seeds of Truth get planted. :newidea:

It sounds very healthy to me, especially since she didn’t go into great fantastic detail when asked about it. This is something she does for herself, maybe. I think it’s her way of looking at her situation from a standpoint she equates with strength or serenity or whatever they take her in her mind. :heaven:

Jesus would no doubt hold her up as an example of pure faith. :angel1:

Ultimately I hope she will learn to incorporate this example of “willful control of emotions” as they call it in my Developmental Psychology textbook, into emotional strength and maturity which is a greater predictor of success than IQ. 👍

Not to say there is a low IQ demonstrated by this. I would think a good imagination and IQ could often go together. I’m just shooting from the hip, though, because I haven’t looked up any actual data on the correlation.

You .should make no judgments and not seriously interfere. Perhaps she is seeing them and perhaps she is not. It is matter of discernment. I would not want to presume that she are actually seeing Jesus and Mary, but such things actually happen, as they did at Fatima, for example.
It would be better not to broadcast what she is saying to friends and relatives, or she could be much ridiculed, which wouldn’t be a healthy thing for her. If she is just playing, let her play.
This is not to presume that anything is actually happening.

I have heard lots of stories about children seeing supernatural things. I’ll tell you a couple:
  1. This story came from a paranormal forum, and was told by the mother of a 5 year old boy. This boy ran to his mother and said, " Come here, hurry!" He was pointing to his bedroom. The mother followed him into the room. He pointed to a wall and exclaimed, “Do you see him?” The mother said, “See who?” The boy said, “The angel!”. Of course, the mother couldn’t see anything but a blank wall. Then the boy started giggling. The mother asked him, “Why are you laughing?” The boy replied, “He doesn’t have any feet!”
He doesn’t have feet. Unusual detail coming from a five year old. I have heard of heavenly visitors not having feet twice before - the Fatima apparitions, and an incident in which a friend of mine had seen Jesus during a very low point in her life. No feet both times, which meshes nicely with the above story about the little boy.
  1. A co-worker of mine told me that her 2 year old girl stopped what she was doing, pointed up towards the corner of the room where the walls meet the ceiling, and said, “Is that daddy?” She was seeing something visible only to her.

Wow! Fascinating!

another thing my sister does is ask mom to do the sign of the cross on her various times ‘so she wont be scared’ she says. It helps her feel peace.

Also, a little cousin of mine when she was 2, woke up crying in the middle of the night saying poor aunt Luli. she was crying and i think she would say God help her!

She had never seen or heard about her Aunt Luli. The next day, her mom told her husband (who was living in the states where this Aunt Luli lives) about it. He was shocked. Just at that time that my little cousin woke up crying, her aunt Luli was being beat by her husband. 😦

An uncle of mine, suffers of schizophrenia. However, my grandmother says he has some kind of gift. He can heal and he has said things that turned out to be true in the future.
He healed my aunt’s toothache of days by doing the sign of the cross on her chin three times.
He told my grandparents that his cousin was gonna get shot. and he did. (died)
He also told my grandparents to tell a family member to take care of their child because he was going to fall into a well. He did. (survived)
I cant think of the other things my uncle has said/done.
He does though laugh to himself sometimes, smiles.
He told my an aunt of mine once that he didnt go to dinner at her house because ‘they’ didnt let him. He was on his way and ‘they’ didnt let him. ‘They’ stopped him.

When my daughter was about 18 months, we at a store and she was sitting in a cart. She started looking at the ceiling, laughing, clapping and saying “Hi, Mary”. She did this the entire time, people kept looking up to see what she was looking at.

She had a statue of Mary that she wanted to carry around with her and she wanted to sleep with it.

I support a woman that has learning difficulties and she said she saw Jesus the other day in her room.

Maybe she did.
Maybe she didn’t but thought it was.

I will never know.
