Do neutral spirits exist? (A halloween thread presentation)

The cinemas and the boob tube are haunted with them: strange entities from the bottom of the well to the farthest galaxies. Some have proper names like Freddie and Jason, others titles like the Blob or the Thingy (whatever it is) They cause many children goosebumps, for some adults they cause nothing but bedtime scream and eek.

Are these “spirits” real? What are they? Are they what hearsays fondly label as “neutral spirits”? Is there such thing as “neutral spirits”.

First, I’d hardly call Jason and Freddie “neutral” (unless mass murder has ceased to be a moral issue ).

Second, to answer the question, no. There are only two types of spiritual being: the good angels who remain faithful to God, and the fallen angels (a.k.a. demons) who joined Satan’s rebellion. Human souls can’t come back from the dead to torment the living, although I suppose that a demon could assume a killer’s form. However, it still wouldn’t have a proper body to pick up a chainsaw or whatnot.

If we are talking about human souls, there are only two destinations for them after death: heaven for the just or hell for the wicked.

For the souls of the just that are bound for heaven but are in need of some type of purification first, they may have to spend some time in Purgatory first. There are no other destinations.

If one sees a “ghost” or what appears to be a spirit of a deceased human, that person may be a person in purgatory who appears to us on earth to invoke our prayers on his or her behalf. These spirits have no reason to interact with us for good or ill so they are usually just there to be seen and nothing else.

If this spirit is acting evilly, then it can not be the soul of a deceased evil human, since God has no reason to send one who is bound for hell back to earth. This kind of spirit can only be a demonic spirit, a fallen angel.
