"Do not offend the Lord our God any more..." Mary to Sr. Lucia

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Continuing Chap. 23 in Sister Lucia’s book - "“Calls” From the Message of Fatima, it is important to note, Sister makes mention of the fact that Our Lady ended the series of her apparitions in Fatima with these words:

Do not offend the Lord our God any more, because He is already so much offended.

I wonder how seriously we take those words of Our Lady – those of us who have heard them and remembered them. Perhaps some heard them a long time ago but have forgotten or chose to discount them – only God knows. Each one of us, and especially Catholics, would do well to examine our own consciences and by the Grace of God learn from the Holy Spirit, sent to bring us into all Truth. How have I offended God? Have I sincerely repented and been earnestly striving not to offend God any more?

That is the Act of Contrition I was taught early in life. I memorized it toward the end of First Grade in Catholic School, just before making my First Confession and First Holy Communion. Praying those exact words today, how much MORE they mean to me now. I underlined the words above that have become increasingly important.

Thanks for your reply. The Fatima Apparitions are really important for us – even as we look back on them 100 years later! Pope Benedict XVI, speaking at Fatima on May 13, 2010 said:

We would be mistaken to think that Fatima’s prophetic mission is complete. Here there takes on new life the plan of God which asks humanity from the beginning: “Where is your brother Abel …] Your brother’s blood is crying out to me from the ground!” (Gen 4:9). Mankind has succeeded in unleashing a cycle of death and terror, but failed in bringing it to an end… In sacred Scripture we often find that God seeks righteous men and women in order to save the city of man and he does the same here, in Fatima, when Our Lady asks: “Do you want to offer yourselves to God, to endure all the sufferings which he will send you, in an act of reparation for the sins by which he is offended and of supplication for the conversion of sinners?” (Memoirs of Sister Lúcia, I, 162).

May we continue to learn as the children learned from Jesus, through Mary.

Yes, dear sister, and Jesus sent Mary to help us to do His Will, which is love and mercy itself. All graces come to us from Jesus through Mary. it can’t do anything good without calling on her and without her help.

Let’s get ready to celebrate the Queenship of our lovely Mother, dear sister. How wonderful it is to have her help. She is our Helper, the bride of the Holy Spirit. She will help us to keep the commandments, no matter how weak we are. She will care for us as Mother and Queen.

I cannot stress enough how I have been helped by her loving intercession, either.

I’m so glad to hear that, oldgray mare. Yes, she is wonderful. That is so understating it. But anything we can say about Mary is understating it, except to say that she is the Mother of God.

It’s so strange how I had a beautiful icon of her, our Lady of Guadalupe, in my room for years but took so long to understand how to depend on her.

It is so wonderful to depend on her.
