Is it wrong to do nothign for lent? I couldnt’ think of anything?..i kept debating between several things to give up and never made up my mind…I then decided to pray everyday for a few specfic things, but only did for a few days. I was very busy moving 12 hours away for the entire month…and then some. I was just consumed with the logistics of moving 12 hours away and i hate to say it forgot. Most of the time I woudl eat meat on at breakfast and then remember that “Heck,!!! I’ts friday, ****…” then I woudl refrain…OR since we are on a budget just not eat meat because it wasnt’ on the menu…probably because of the Holy Spirit…I dont 'know…i guess I feel I’ve been on MAJOR cruise control because of the huge life change that moving from northern Oklahoma to the BEACH!!! in Texas has brought us. I don’t really feel guilty thought. I feel as though God has granted me a reprieve because he knows how stressed I get with these types of things (moving, etc) that if I just made it through without eating my husbands head off, He was happy. i almost feel like my lenten “thing” was to move without having a hernia or a stroke…adn I came close!!!

Giving up something or doing something extra for Lent is a personal devotion. There is no sin there if you forget or decide not to do it for whatever reason. Every Friday should be a day of penance, but can you can decide how you want to carry out that penance.
1438 The seasons and days of penance in the course of the liturgical year (Lent, and each Friday in memory of the death of the Lord) are intense moments of the Church’s penitential practice. These times are particularly appropriate for spiritual exercises, penitential liturgies, pilgrimages as signs of penance, voluntary self-denial such as fasting and almsgiving, and fraternal sharing (charitable and missionary works).
Also, use care when relying on feelings to figure out whether something is sinful or not. As human beings, our feelings are fickle and can lead us into a lot of trouble.

If you truly forgot about abstaining from meat on Friday, then it is not a mortal sin. You cannot sin on accident. I do encourage you to figure out a way to make sure that it isn’t a problem on Good Friday. Remember, we are to abstain and fast that day. Also, let this year be a lesson on how to do it better next year.

My suggestion is to pray. By prayer, you will likely be able to figure out if Jesus wants more out of you during Lent. You had a big move and quite possibly had more than you could handle on your plate. On the other hand, maybe you didn’t and it was an excuse to slack off. I’m not trying to place blame or tell you that’s the case. I do believe that the answer will be found in prayer and quiet reflection on why we have Lent.
