Do old sins need to be confessed?

If I have been to the Sacrament of Confession several times since committing a certain sin, but I only now remember it, would it still be necessary for me to confess that “old” sin the next time I go to confession.

You dont have to but you may. It has been forgiven but if it bothers you, you can confess it just for the sake of conscience

Confess it this once and let it go. God has.

Second, for this reason, we say “For these sins and any sins which I have forgotten, I ask the Lord’s pardon”

It is my understanding that it was forgiven but that you should mention it the next time you go to confession. I have been in a similar position and I found that it was a relief to confess it.

I mortal sin since baptism that has been remembered but not confessed yet is to be confessed at the next confession. You should receive a penance with which to make satisfaction in cooperation with Jesus Christ.

Catechism

1448 (excerpt) has "The Church, who through the bishop and his priests forgives sins in the name of Jesus Christ and determines the manner of satisfaction, also prays for the sinner and does penance with him. Thus the sinner is healed and re-established in ecclesial communion. "

1450 "Penance requires . . . the sinner to endure all things willingly, be contrite of heart, confess with the lips, and practice complete humility and fruitful satisfaction."49
