Hey, I know that the Catholic church recognizes the Oriental and Eastern Orthodox churches as having valid sacraments. But does the Oriental Orthodox church and the Eastern Orthodox church recognize the Catholic sacraments as valid?
  • Thanks in advance!

There isn’t any concensus. Some say yes, some say no, how many says yes can also depend on which sacrament you’re talking about.

Baptism generally, though not always, is.

This seems to be a very topic of interest to Catholics. Frequently it is asked on this site. But I do not yet understand why you think this is significant matter. You believe your holy sacraments are valid (a very legalistic expression to mean that ? I suppose God is acting through them to save person). Why do you care if Orthodox officially make some statement about Your Sacraments validness.?? This is not business of our Church to make statements about such matters. Believe in your Holy Sacraments. We believe in ours! Our Lord will be judge if there is some legal problem. But why expect Orthodox Church to make some statement about your Church services??? If I am not understanding point, please explain to me.

The Coptic Oriental Orthodox Church does not accept your sacraments (of those in communion with Rome) as valid. We only accept Oriental or Eastern sacraments as valid.

HG Bishop Youssef says,

With regard to the Mystery of Baptism, one is baptized in the faith of the Church he has been baptized in.

In baptism one declares that they accept all the beliefs of this Church as their own. Being baptized in the Catholic Church means you believe in all the dogma of this Church including the Immaculate Conception, the Procession from the Son, the infallibility of the Pope, the Purgatory and other dogmas that are not acceptable in the Coptic Church. Therefore to become a member of the Coptic Church you need to be baptized in the faith of this Church. Accordingly all the Mysteries of this Church are part of her beliefs.

We believe that the Catholic Church is an apostolic Church and accept its Apostolic succession but do not acknowledge the Supremacy of the Pope of Rome.
