What do Orthodox believe about God’s Mercy and about grace?

Glory to Jesus Christ!

Of course the Orthodox believe in grace!🙂 We believe that grace is God’s life in us. Orthodox treat sin as a disease. The word for sin that the NT used from the Greek was ἁμαρτία (pronounced ah-mar-tee-ah) which literally means, missing the mark. The Sacraments or Mysteries as Orthodox are wont to call them are for the healing of sickness. Sometimes you may hear an Orthodox refer to them as “medicine for our souls.” A beautiful image in my opinion. 😃

If you want to read more about it, there is a great article from Orthodox Info called “The Orthodox View of Grace.” It’s an excerpt from a book by Frank Schaeffer, the son of a prominent Protestant minister from the 70s, I believe. Hope that helps a little bit! 😃

In Christ,
Andrew
