Do others ever miss God?

I had quite a weekend where I was more busy than usual. I went to a pot luck support Saturday and to a movie with a new friend this evening. I usually don’t spend so much time being social and most of my house work did not get done. And I didn’t read as many Catholic books as usual and I am feeling disconnected from God. I had a good time this weekend, but I do semi feel like I am going down the wrong path.

Just curious but how do others keep God #1 priority when they get busy?

I think this is something most of us struggle with. It is so easy to get distracted in this life. When I am busy and/or stressed to the max, I try to handle each task in a manner that brings glory to God, be it through patience, kindness, or by simply relying upon God to see me through the day. So, rather than letting the day’s activities take us away from God, we can use them as a means to bring us closer to Him by asking Him for His help. Perhaps you could make a conscious effort to demonstrate Christ’s love for others when you are with your friends. After all, we are commanded to love others as ourselves. The best way to live this command is by spending time with others. There is nothing wrong with being busy as long as we obey God and communicate with Him throughout the day.

God bless. 🙂

Hi Anglewannabe 🙂

This does happen a lot in my life - things get very busy and as a result I push God down the list of my priorities. North of Nod provided some excellent advice. I thought I’d add to their’s.

Often when I’m having a great time with friends, I feel a little disconnected with God (especially if the friends aren’t Catholic/Christian). So, when I am momentarily away from friends (e.g. getting a glass of water, walking from my car, slicing pickles… ;)) I offer up a prayer something like this: “Jesus, please help me to do everything for your love and through your love.”

God bless,

Thank you for your replies. I went to adoration today. I figured whether I feel close to God or not, I was beside him so that is a good step

i try to sing psalms and hymns to myself, which helps keep Jesus in from of me. i also talk (pray) to him continually whatever i’m doing, unless i’m in conversation with someone else. and then, i’ll bounce ideas off of Him before replying sometimes.
