So I took a does of ibuprofen a little while ago to make sure I’m not too sore after going to the gym. Does this count against the 1-hour fast before receiving the host or is it counted as something put in the mouth that isn’t food (e.g. water, medicine, gum, cigarettes etc.)

Can. 919 §1. A person who is to receive the Most Holy Eucharist is to abstain for at least one hour before holy communion from any food and drink, except for only water and medicine.

Peace

Correct.

I know. I’m basically wondering if stuff like mild painkillers count as “medicine” or not. Just like to double-check on these kinds of things.

“PAIN-killers” Equals medicine. Always. That is how it is sold even if it is OTC.

If you think about it it sure as heck is not nourishment…
Seems pretty simple to me.
