I’m curious to see if other people that aren’t Catholic have a home altar/sacred space. If you do have one feel free to respond and say what you have in that space. God Bless!

One person I know describes herself as a “born again pagan”. She has her “altar” set up at home. That, of course is a non-Christian example.

I visited an elderly Greek Orthadox lady once ,and she had the icon picture
of Our Lady of Perpetual Help in her lounge room surrounded by lit candles
and lovely cloth. It was the centre feature of room

I have always wanted to have one and I’m currently in a renovation project where I am making room for areas such as this. My sister uses a closet and she even bought a Jewish prayer shawl to use when she is worshiping and praying.

Blessings,

Rita

I sure wish Catholics would stop using the word altar for their home devotional tables. An altar is for sacrifice. One should not be doing sacrifices at home. Altars are for churches, chapels, and oratories wich
have been properly dedicated.

tafan2 has a point and seems to me I've read posts from priests on caf that say what folks have at home are shrines not altars. Personally I'm not much for worship so I simply sit or stand wherever and meditate for a while or say a few prayers as the case may be. Inside, outside it is all sacred space.
