Do prayers ever not get accepted when praying for others?

Is there a time when prayers never get answered when we are praying for the salvation of others?
 
I believe all prayers are answered either immediately, or later on in some time in the future, according to God’s plan that we may not understand or see.

All prayers are accepted … and answered in God’s own good time. Remember St. Monica who prayed for her son St. Augustine…who was a terrible bounder before he found the truth of Jesus…and then, her prayers were not only answered for his conversion, but he became a great doctor of the Church. However, some prayers need to be accompanied by fasting too. Remember, it is not only you who wants conversion of others, but God also wants this. Pray hard, pray often and offer sacrifices to the Lord.
I have no doubt your prayers will be heard. Trust in Jesus. *All things come to those who believe. *

The person whom we are praying for must open his heart himself. God reveils Himself to the person, but it is also the person’s free will to follow God’s call.
 
ultimately human beings have free will so God may answer your prayer by opening up opportunities for the person you’re praying for but he won’t force them they have to come on their own. It’s like the old adage about leading a horse to water, and while God always answers your prayers sometimes the answer is no.
 
i believe that all god accepts and uses all prayers that are offered up to him…maybe sometimes we don’t see the answers to our prayers because either it is not gods will what we are asking…or we haven’t had enough patience and perservered in praying for whatever it is we are asking for…or maybe he has used our prayer to help someone else who is desperately in need…
but i think god uses all prayer…he wouldn’t waste a single word of it…it will be only in heaven that we will realise how economical god was in making our prayers stretch to help others who are in need…possibly others that we may never know or even think about…

God accepts all prayers.

He does not always give us the answer we want or expect.

Just because he doesn’t answer us immediately doesn’t mean that he doesn’t hear or answer.

This is why we need patience and faith.

I read this once in a devotion and saved it (sorry, I can’t remember where it’s from or who said it):
“Pray in confidence for your loved ones, knowing that the Lord is more concerned for them than you are and that He is willing to save them through faith in Jesus.” ❤️
This quote was based on 1 Timothy 2:4; 2 Peter 3:9; and 1 John 5:14-15

As the wife of a non-Catholic and a person who has many relatives and friends who aren’t believers, these verses bring me great comfort in knowing that God hears my prayers.

Yes we have to think “spiritual” not of the flesh when thinking prayer, I have found. God’s ways are not our ways, a thousand years are like a thousand seconds for God :yup:

I worked for 19 years witha large group of people who told me latter that they would curse me think I was strange to say the least stupid more like and put me down. But God heard my prayers over those 19 years I said noven for these guys and fasting.

Another point is that those whose name is in the book of life will never not go to heaven, God’s promis.

What about the prayer of Cain that was not acceptable to God?

Seems to me God looks at where the prayer comes from either the heart (David, Peter, others) or from the head (Judus, Cane others)!

Unfortunately, human beings have a precarious thing called free will. It’s ultimately up to the individual whether he/she will give up sin and choose God. I can pray for them and leave them in God’s providential care but, in the end, the individual has to accept the graces God gives them. No amount of grace or prayers can penetrate an obstinate, unrepentant heart. Of course such a condition only God can see. We must continue to prayer with love and confidence for even the most apparently hardened sinner.

I agree in some ways but how about these whose names are writen in the book of life. Take those who killed St Francis Savior and the Islanders turned to God through the blood. Their wish was to kill but God’s will was salvation?

God always sends the graces necessary for conversion to the person, but the person must accept them.

By the way, if you ever have the chance, I highly recommend the little book, “Prayer: the Great Means of Salvation and Perfection” by St. Alphonsus Liguori. He explains this issue well.

With this in mind do we get what is good for us what God decides or do we get what we ask for?
 
Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with Thee. Blessed art Thou among women and blessed is the fruit of Thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen.
