Do virtually any Protestants celebrate Halloween? The reason why I’m asking this is because me and couple of my friends, two Non-Denominational Christian, one Pentecostal, and one Seventh-Day Adventist. My Pentecostal friend said she didn’t celebrate Halloween and I asked why and she said “well, my mom doesn’t want to be celebrate it, since I’m Christian” My Non-Denominational friend said “yeah David, you should know that.”

My friends, unfortunately, think the word “Christian” is synonymous with “Protestant” and that Catholic is a totally different religion, and since I’m Religious my friend thought I was a Protestant, which in turn to him means I don’t celebrate Halloween.

But besides all that, do Protestants celebrate it?

God bless :byzsoc:

Well last night I our church but on a Halloween Party for the community. The theme was princes and princesses. It was attended by 450 kids (our church is 300).

We had the dressing up in costumes, the games, and of course the candy.

The only difference between our party and others is that occult themes (witches, ghosts, goblins) were not promoted. That is not to say that if a community child were dressed up as one they were turned away…we just did not promote that element of Halloween.

A fun time was had by all. I helped out in the toddler section.

It isn’t a Christian event, so I have no problem with the costumes/fun/candy surrounding the secular “celebration”.

I wonder if your friend would think “Lutheran” is synonymous with Protestant/Christian, or Catholic. I’ve heard some say the latter. 😃

What Lutherans do commemorate of Oct 31 is “Reformation Day”, followed on Nov 1 by All Saints Day.

I’m Pentecostal. We celebrated Halloween and went trick-or-treating when we were little. We were not permitted to dress in any sort of “dark” or “evil” costume though. My pastor passes out candy on Halloween.

Our church does have “Hallelujah” celebrations as a Christian alternative. It’s basically a night of fellowship that will involve handing out candy, games, and the obligatory spooky hayride.

I grew up LCMS and certainly celebrated Halloween!!

Now that I am Catholic, I still celebrate Halloween!!

Most Seventh-day Adventists I know do not celebrate Halloween.

Most Protestants I know do. Many these days are doing alternative celebrations, like Trunk or Treat or hell houses. But I am in the “Bible Belt.”

We had “Trunk or Treat” last night. I don’t like the hell houses.

I doubt ALL of them do, haha. I know many that do though. If by celebrate you mean letting their kids dress up to collect candy.
