Do Protestants see Orthodoxy more approachable than Catholicism?

So, are the Catholics regulars and the Orthodox milds, or the other way around?

Jumping in where the angels fear to tread – as we Lutherans are wont to do –

Orthodoxy is somewhat more approachable from a theological standpoint but, like Jon, I’m a product of western Christianity and am culturally attracted to Catholicism. Over the years, many of my theological problems with Catholicism have been worked out but I still have difficulty with some Marian doctrines and with the insistence that the mystery of the Real Presence must be explained by the doctrine of transubstantiation. And then, of course, there is that little problem over whose orders are valid and who makes that decision.

Those things aside, I am thankful that my Catholic and Orthodox brothers and sisters are, with us, gathered within the one, holy, catholic, and apostolic church.
