I am a recent convert into the Church - I’m afraid I also brought my biggest problems, habitually looking at pornography and masturbation, with me. I am struggling and praying to overcome these faults, and confessing regularly, and doing better; my question is this: if I do fail and give in, may I not approach the sacraments again until I have confessed?

Hi Jason,

If one commits a mortal sin, one must to go to Confession before receiving Holy Communion. This inconvenience can help to avoid such sin. Don’t be discouraged. With God’s grace one can overcome this habit. Many have–but only by spending regular time in prayer.

I suggest reflecting daily on the Lord’s passion before crucifix or better, before the Blessed Sacrament if possible. It’s all a matter of how much one wants to love Him.
