Do you believe in the mysteries of the Holy Rosary. The mysteries of Holy Rosary fulfill the law and the prophets, have you ever heard that statement before? Please state your belief in the holy rosary, and what you know about the mysteries?

Reciting the Rosary is like reading the Gospels b/c the prayers are in the Gospel. Do non-Catholics know this?

I have never heard that phrase used in reference to the rosary from any Catholic, so I have no idea where you did. 🤷

The rosary is a sacramental of the Church. It is an aid to meditation on the Gospels as well as an aid in prayer.

The mysteries are merely the incidents from the lives of Jesus, Mary, and the Apostles. They are called mysteries because they are a part of the great mystery of redemption not because they have any arcane value, if that is what you are thinking/fearing.

**I heard Father Corapi state that on the radio. **

I agree with you, but the mysteries are much more, they can be life changing.

my belief is in God and in the action of God in human history, as recorded in the scripture, particularly the scripture we call the Gospels, which record the life and mission of Jesus Christ the Redeemer. My devotion, in which I recall the mysteries proclaimed in the Gospels, is called the rosary, one of many such devotions which involve meditation on the scripture and the mysteries they proclaim.

I cant speak for all Catholics knowing praying the Rosary is like praying the Gospels. Amen to that.

I believe to understand how the mysteries of the Holy Rosary fulfill the law and prophets, one takes one mystery at a time, in a contemplative meditation and scripture reading how the Gospel mystery, fulfills a prophecy of Jesus fulfilling them in each mystery, and also how Jesus fulfills the Mosaic Law in his Gospel mysteries of the Most Holy Rosary.

To summarize, I find that you can find the old testament, in the new testament, like St. Augustine taught, in the Mysteries of the rosary, in a Mystical way, not according to the letter. I am still doing research.

Love and peace.🙂

Could you please tell me where the Rosary prayers are in the Gospels? Anyone?
beginning of Luke’s gospel mostly.
there is a link on spirituality to the scripture verses for each mystery, do a search on scriptural rosary

OF is in both Matthew and Luke,
doxology is several places in the Gospel, esp. the commission to the apostles on Easter Sunday night
HM is the angelic salution, plus Elizabeth’s greeting, hing word is “Jesus” with closing added later.

Yes Jesus did fulfill the law and the prophets, the mysteries of the rosary tell you how he did it.
So then according to you, the mysteries of the Rosary do not fulfill the law and the prophets as you initially suggested.

If you have read your bible then you could easily see them there.
The Lord’s prayer is in Mt. 6:
9 Thus therefore shall you pray: Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.
10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
11 Give us this day our supersubstantial bread.
12 And forgive us our debts, as we also forgive our debtors.
13 And lead us not into temptation. But deliver us from evil. Amen.

The Ave Maria (Hail Mary) is in the Gospel of Luke 1:

28 And the angel being come in, said unto her: Hail, full of grace, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women.
41 And it came to pass, that when Elizabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the infant leaped in her womb. And Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Ghost:
42 And she cried out with a loud voice, and said: Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb.

Where is the rest of it?

Where is the rest of it?
[43] And why is this granted me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?
[44] For behold, when the voice of your greeting came to my ears, the babe in my womb leaped for joy.
[45] And blessed is she who believed that there would be a fulfilment of what was spoken to her from the Lord."
[46] And Mary said, "My soul magnifies the Lord,
[47] and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior,
[48] for he has regarded the low estate of his handmaiden.
For behold, henceforth all generations will call me blessed;
[49] for he who is mighty has done great things for me
,
and holy is his name.

From these verses we see that Mary is called “the mother of my Lord”, i.e. “the mother of God” or Theotokos, God-bearer. The voice of her greeting caused the child in Elizabeth’s womb to leap. This shows that Mary was holy, and filled with the Holy Spirit, one who was empowered by God to be his agent in the world. And we are called to that same holiness and work. Yes? 🙂

When Mary declared “henceforth all generations will call me blessed” she may not have envisioned prayers being offered through her intercession, but each time we pray the rosary we are fulfilling her words spoken under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit.

“He who is mighty has done great things for me…” What greater thing could he have done than to create her immaculate so she would be fit to be the mother of God? What greater thing than the Incarnation could she have been chosen to do. For with it came the responsibility of rearing the very Son of God himself and suffering his sufferings, as we are also called to do.

As to her praying for us in heaven, Jesus himself declared that the dead are not dead but alive in God. If Jesus said it I believe, God’s word cannot lie. 😉

Amen, puzzleannie, are you familiar with the luminous mysteries?

Yes I believe they do fulfill the law and the prophets, Mystically.
To show this, one has to take a contemplative approach. I,ll just say this, without going into to much hypothetical illustrations. God’s word never changes, and the Word of God, made flesh is alive. Although one can just meditate on the historical fact that the mysteries of the Rosary, reflect Jesus’s action in the Gospels, fulfilling the Law and the prophets.

I know that.

Where is the rest of it?

I was trying to discover where in the gospels the Hail Mary prayer was found. At least not in the gospels that I am familiar with.

I have to admit that I don’t think it can be found. Maybe supported, but not found word for word as the Lords Prayer is found.

I believe, this was never seen before until Pope John Paul II (The Great), gave us the Luminous Mysteries, could this be why Pope John Paul the great was prophecised about before his pontificate, there will come a pope of Light. It takes all 20 mysteries now to conclude how Jesus fulfilled the law and the prophets.

The Hail Mary prayer was given to us from Gabriel the angel of God, and Elizabeth who was under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit when she Spoke to Mary in the Sacred Scriptures.

Luke 1; 28, and coming to her, (Gabriel) He said, “Hail Mary full of Grace, the Lord is with you”

Luke 1:41 When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greetiong, the infant leaped in her wombed, and Elizabeth, FILLED WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT, CRIED OUT IN A LOUD VOICE AND SAID, "Most blessed are you among woman, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb.

This devotional prayer we get directly from heaven, The body of Christ on earth responds to the angel and the holy spirit by praying,

Holy Mary , Mother of God, pray for our sinners now and at the hour of our death amen.

Now this response to heaven from the body of Christ on earth, his bride the Catholic Church. Does not come on the seen until 325 a.d. after the council of Ephesus.

in brief: the church council of Ephesus, was dealing with many heretical teachings at this time. Jesus divinity came in question, When the council ended, The consensus was that Jesus is fully human, fully divine. Thus the people of Ephesus, waited to hear the councils decision, when the news touched their ears. They all exclaimed and in procession, "holy Mary mother of God, Pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death.

You see, the children of God, ask the blessed virgin Mary to pray for us, as she prayed for Jesus during the hour of his death.
The gospel of John 19:26,27

I hope this helps 🙂
May you overcome with the peace of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior
