I know on Sundays we should abstain from servile work, consumerism, etc. By consumerism, I mean unneeded purchases (like gift shopping as opposed to having to go to the corner store because we have run out of milk, etc.)
So it crossed my mind today, since tomorrow is a holy day of obligation, do those rules apply to holy days of obligation as well? Are we supposed to abstain from servile work and consumerism on those days as well?
I try my best not to go shopping, like gift shopping or indulgent shopping, on Sundays. I try to make sure it is during the week. However, I was going to buy my mom a present tomorrow, and again, it is a holy day of obligation. I didn’t want to offend God.
Thank you so much for your help and guidance!
