So I have come across three quotes from the three main faiths of today…Judiasm, Islam and Christianity.
Is it only me or does anyone else see a common thread among the three?
*****************************************************Depart from evil, and do good. Seek peace, and pursue it. -Jewish Holy Scripture Psalm 34:14

The fruit of righteousness is sown in peace for them that make peace.** -New Testament, James 3:18**

And make not Allah becuase of your swearing (by him) an obstacle to your doing good and guarding (against evil) and making peace between men, and Allah is Hearing,Knowing.**-Quran 2:224 **

The Koran is riddled with half truths and lies, along with small amounts of truth. This is how satan works. Look what he said in eden. Lies masked by elements of truth.

That is not the point of the thread here–are you saying then that the Quran is misleading people by saying that one must do good and make peace?

Thank you for pointing that out…that comment or reply really was not at the heart of what this thread was for.
Please let me clarify…this is not a Muslim, Jew or Christian BASHING thread.

Of course there are similarities.

Why not? If something is a truth–or an absolute, like love, or peace–then it is “common” to all people.

As a Catholic, I believe that my faith contains the FULLNESS of truth, revealed by God. Since the Jewish faith is so entwined with the Catholic faith (they are our “older brethren”) it is not surprising that God revealed MUCH truth to them, and in fact did reveal ALL through His Son, which many Jews could not accept, but hopefully one day all will come to the fullness of truth in Christ Jesus.

Since the Protestants come FROM the Catholic faith, but have either denied bits or added bits, it is also not surprising they also possess degrees of truth as well.

Even non Judeo-Christian faiths have SOME truth in them in so far as they have found those “commonalities”. . .which commonalities are there I believe precisely in order to facilitiate humanity to COME TO the truth.

I am fairly sure that JP2 the Great addressed this far better than I have during his pontificate.
