We all know and love the picture…

BUT

Do they have names?

In common culture they are called “cherubs”. That is not an official name given by the Church. They are simply decorative, artistic elements.
 
I think they’re just called cherubim.
Seraphim also stand guard at the throne of God but they aren’t easy to make a statue of I think.

As @Start already pointed out, in Italian the usual term is putto, plural putti. The same word is sometimes seen in English, usually in connection with Italian art. If you go to Google Images and type in “putti” you’ll see a lot of examples.

Oh this post has gotten so messed up… LOL

First, the link didn’t seem to take for some reason… Then the editing feature went cablooey on me… and then it’s like I should have been more specific in what I was asking…

I kind of meant more like do they have names? Like “Dismas” and “Gesmas”…
(BTW, they’re likely NOT named Dismas and Gesmas… 😛 )

No, they’re not intended to represent named individuals. They’re just generic winged figures within a certain artistic convention.
