Do u shop at wall mart?

I love shopping at Walmart. The prices fit my lifestyle. As for Brokeback Mountain-it’s just a movie folks.
 
Some 1 said it was bad to shop in America because they
allow Wal-mart to sell Brokeback Mountain. Do you shop in
America?
 
I shop in Wal-Wart practically everyday. While I wish they sold more Made in America items I have found very few stores that offer more items made here.
 
I make Wal-Mart a part of my shopping every two weeks. We get food from there (their prices on certain items that we frequently use cannot be beat!), plus I do like purchasing clothing for my little ones there.

As far as DVDs, I don’t buy any, so purchasing any title similiar to Brokeback Mountain would not affect me.

I totally agree.

I just learned a couple of days ago that my taxes pay for abortions in the State of Oregon. The Oregon Health Plan covers abortions and my state taxes pay for OHP. What am I going to do? Not pay taxes?

I was scrupulous about shopping at Wal-Mart for awhile. I even watched a documentary about whether or not Walleytown was good for America. Consensus was: they are not good for small business but they’ve kept inflation down. So they’re good and bad.

There are even Christian films that pay for pro-choice causes, like Lord of the Rings. Am I going to not buy LOTR because of this? Probably not because it’s a Christian-themed movie. Plus, it’s water over the bridge because I’ve owned the movie LONG before I realized where the proceeds were going. I suppose none of us need to worry any longer because the creator of LOTR went broke making King Kong.

Anyway, don’t worry about it. Because if you do, it won’t be long before you’re buying “green” toilet paper!

Lots of places sold that movie. Not sure why we would boycott Walmats over any other place that sold it. I simply didn’t see the movie in theaters, didn’t rent the dvd or buy it. I figure that is all the boycotting I can do.

As for Walmart, no I don’t usually shop there simply because there are other “everything” stores closer to me. The practices of many large retailers are similar to Walmart’s. I try my best to just not go shopping as often period. I don’t buy as much stuff and I try to buy stuff that will last.

Wal-Mart actively forces companies to manufacture outside the US by telling them “we will pay you unit price X” knowing there is now way they can meet that with their US plants.

Also, many items at Wal-Mart are inferior made-only-for-WM models. E.g., the Old Navy jeans at Wal-Mart are not the same as the ones at the Old Navy store, nor is the Mr Coffee the same as the on at K-Mart or Target.
 
Only when I have to.

I now go to Target. A new one opened up closer to me and it is easy to get to traffic wise. I know, I know - the prices aren’t every day low prices - but sometimes on the usual items of clothes and groceries they are pretty close. I’m not looking for that cheap futon anymore.

Besides 1) my older son started working there for the summer and wages are much better than his previous theater job and 2) Target Corp provides millions to St. Jude Children’s Hospital and my wife and younger son just finished an 8 month stay at Target House for treatment (brain cancer) at a beautifully furnished 2 bedroom efficiency apartment at no cost to us. It was a blessing I can’t ever repay. But I can shop at the store when I have a choice. I know lots of stores are charitable, but to us this one is way above and beyond the call of civic duty.
 
At least once a week. Great prices, great employees and very convenient.
 
I used too, but now I much prefer Target for appliances and stuff like that. And for grocery shopping we just go to Wegmans. It’s worth paying slightly higher prices for the excellent customer service and food selection they have there. (I think this is only a northeastern chain though.) For clothes I shop online or go to the mall. If you shop sales you can get good quality stuff at decent prices. You don’t have to buy the cheap stuff at Wal Mart.
 
Yeah. I buy groceries there every 2 weeks. The grocery section is limited, so I can only buy frozen, a few refrigerated items, canned & dry items - and the toilet paper & other household items. I go to other grocery stores for whatever I can’t find at Wal-Mart, and I’ll be glad when the Super-Center is finally opened.

I don’t like that the aisles are narrow & often blocked. REcently, I went to buy jeans - went to Target first, and found that Target no longer carried Lee jeans, and they had no Petites in the brand they now carry. I went to Wal-Mart & found exactly what I wanted.

I am not interested in Brokeback Mountain, didn’t see it in the movies, don’t intend to buy the DVD - at Wal-Mart or anywhere else.

The reason that Wal-Mart is under s much fire is that they arent unionized. Thus you get propoganda like this web site, Unless one buys into the nonsense that any Non-union shop vilaotes human rights this charge aganst Wal mart is specious

Here in the stix, we really don’t have a choice but to shop at Wal-Mart or pay out the rear for groceries, etc… :o

It’s not propoganda. It’s a reputable website.

I never claimed any non-union shop violates human rights.

Did you watch the video clip?

Wal-Mart regularlly fires employees who attempt or show interest in unionizing. They have gone so far as to set up security cameras to see who talks to the “troublemakers”.
 
here is the thing about Wal Mart and Brokeback mountain. They had this HUGE movie poster by the door and I was shocked it almost was like HEY YOU PEOPLE LOOK AT WHAT WE ARE PROMOTING!!! WE ARE SO HIP AND ACCEPTING!!! I asked the store manager to take it down, he not only took it down but talked with me for 30 minutes about my concerns and was very nice, he said that he is a steward of the community and wants to get feedback like this. He too was a little surpised at Wal Mart advertizing like this. He has since placed the movie in an obscure place. The employees are happy, The customers are my kind of people (real) and for years I worked at albertsons and I would pick walmart over albies prices and service any day. that being said thier meat is horrible. But yes I shop there. a checker I go through often has a Smile Jesus loves you button, I can’t even imaginge another national store chain allowing this type of expression.
