Please tell me where I stated there was a moral equivalence between Darfur and Wal-Mart. You are attempting to put words in my mouth. You are being disingenuious.

You point about the single mother is just absurd. Do you think it’s OK to take advantage of her because, as you state, she is “better off”?
Gving her a job with a chance of advancement is taking advantage of her???

The website never stated there was an eqivalency between the subjects. That’s a conclusion you made.

Giving her a job is NOT taking advantage of her. Shorting her hours so she doesn’t qualify for healthcare is.

And yes, she is the best judge. But since it was estesbob who says she is better off maybe you should ask him.
I am still at a loss as to why not having a job would make her better off than having a job?? If wal_mart is so bad why do they generally have about 100 people applying for every job they have available?

So why did you bring up Dafur?

Maybe she just needs to put food on the table for her children?
The next time I see her, I will inform her that in your opinion she should not be **allowed **to put food on the table for her children

She will no doubt quit her job instantly.😛
Maybe you are just more fortunate.
Maybe I just have a better understanding of economics and work closely enough with the poor to understand their needs.

You really have a habit of trying to put words in others mouths.

Tell me, read all my posts, when did I state she would be better off without a job?

When, show me. Please. Show me where I state that.

Are you and estes the same person?
When did I state my opinion she should not be allowed to work?

As for the last comment, what are you implying?

Because you claimed the website was issuing “propaganda”. You attempted to discredit the organization.
Any organization that puts Dafur on the same level as Wal-Mart is no doubt engagening in propaganda. How can they have any credibility when they attack wal-mart and genocide in the same breath?

Does it surprise you that more than one person sees the problems with your arguments? There are major problems facing the world today. Wal-mart is not one of them regardless of what your “human rights” web-site tell you

They don’t do it in the same breath. It’s on the same website server. It’s a seperate issue.

You are the one implying they do it in the same breath.

So that’s the basis for you discrediting an entire organization?

Are you and estes the same person?
Are you several different persons?
When did I state my opinion she should not be allowed to work?
When you said she was “being taken advantage of.” She made the decision to take the job. Clearly she feels she is getting a fair return for her work.

If she didn’t, she wouldn’t take the job.

That I do understand economics (for example, I know that a thing is worth what a willing buyer will offer and a willing seller will accept – which is how I know this hypothetical single mother and Wal-Mart are agreed on the worth of her labor.)

And that, living in a very depressed area, and working with many poor people, I have a pretty good understanding of their needs. I know they need jobs – especially jobs that offer advancement (like those at Wal-Mart.) And they don’t need someone else to be making their decision for them.

What exactly is my argument?

Yes there are major problems in the world. No I would not define WalMart as a major one.

But what they do IS an injustice.

. The whole idea that if one is not unionized they are guilty of a human rights violation absolutely destroys any credibility they have. My business is not unionized-Am I as complicit as those commiting genocide in Dafur. Your website would lead one to beleive so. Am I guilty of violating human rights. Should i go out and apologize to all my employees for violating their human rights? How about your business(I assume you have one since you know so much about running one) Is it unionized?

You’re right, they don’t need someone else to make a decision for them. That’s why I think it’s unfair for Wal_Mart to take away the employees decision to unionize.

You cant figure it out, either, eh?😛
Yes there are major problems in the world. No I would not define WalMart as a major one.
Then why waste bandwidth on it? And why should a site that claims to deal with real problems list Wal-Mart?
But what they do IS an injustice.
Not according to the many people who depend on them for jobs. Not according to all the little towns they’ve saved. Not according to the people who couldn’t afford new school clothes for their children if not for Wal-Mart.

And not according the the Katrina evacuees in our little church – they were Wal-Mart employees in Louisiana, and when they got here walked right into our local Wal-Mart and had jobs waiting for them.

:gopray: Jesus, help us to have peace in our hearts when we talk things over…

Apparently we can’t have this discussion without you insulting me.

Have a wonderful evening.
