I was listening to CAL the other day and heard that the soul and the spirit are the same. references like “I feel it in my heart, or in my mind…” (not a direct quote, I’m just recalling from memory) both pertains to the soul. My question is, the “emotional pain” that we feel on our chest where our physical heart is located (Like if we break up with someone, we feel it on our chest where our heart is), That “emotional pain”, are we feeling that from our soul? Is it our soul that feels that pain? or is it the organ that we call the Heart?

Your enligthenment please…*🙂

My opinion is that we did not get revelation about details in this topic.

We know, that we have something which makes us person, is created immediately by God, and is immortal. Latin spirit

We know also that we have something other then the physical body, which is common with the animals. Latin anima.

Both has active influence over our life.

We do not know the relationship between the two.

The English names are more confusing the clarifying. The Christology is mystery, beyond our understanding.

Ultimately, all physical “feeling” arises in our head.

Wherever in you body you may feel a pain, it does not “register” until it climbs up the spinal column to your head, where most of your mind lives. (Your mind/soul fills your body, and keeps the body alive, but most of the action is in your head!)

Acupunture is said to relieve physical pain. This would work by blocking the nerves that carry pain signals to the head.

So while physical pains can arise from any limb or internal organ, including the heart, that pain only registers in your mind. Emotional pain begins in your mind, before it ever starts in your body. We feel it in our heart, if at all, because of the intricate connection between our emotions and our body systems, which is part of our human-life support mechanism.

Since it would seem biblically that our human “mind” is a function of the “soul”, I’d say that yes, these emotional sensations do arise in our soul, although we feel them (the way we feel everything), with our human bodies.

God Bless and ICXC NIKA.

Allegorically, the individual human soul is the whole rational nature of one substance. The soul is the totality of our entire self, and it is intimately attached to the body. Our hearts are metaphorically the faculty of the will. Our heads are metaphorically the faculty of the intellect. The intellect moves the will to action by understanding a choice, and choosing.

As much as the current age balks at the idea, it is the intellect that deals with emotional pain. We can use our will to say “no” to emotional. pain. You are in control of your feelings, not the other way around! 🙂 Love is in the will, and true happiness.
