Do we forgive, or forgive and forget?

I always forgive, eventually, and rarely forget. Once I do forgive I forgive completely, but that does not mean I forget the transgression; rather, I let it go. I remember it out of self-preservation yet I do not allow it to rule my heart. What is past is past. I just never give up on anyone! I believe in redemption! But I am prudent in my private assessments of transgressions. I think this saying is quite true: *If you fool me once shame on you; if you fool me twice shame on me. *There are many lessons for me to learn from others’ transgressions, and not the least of which is forgiveness and letting go and *moving on. *

Many blessings everyone!

Our Lord said to forgive seventy times seven . . . . Forgiveness is an act of the will. If every single day . . . you say to the Lord, “I forgive this person. Please help me totally forgive, Lord,” or something similar, the Lord will certainly hear your prayer.
I left this part out of my earlier post! YES. You have to do it every day. Not just say it once. Every time the bitterness creeps into your heart, you offer your forgiveness again. As mass4life said: 70x7 = forever. Nobody says this is easy but the Boss has commanded it. It is not optional.
