We will definitely go to purgatory for forgiven venial sins. (I think.) Well, I hesitate, slightly, because I remember hearing in one place that an act of perfect love will allow us to bypass purgatory. Also, martyrs for the faith bypass purgatory.

Regarding the second part of your question, I don’t think we can know the time and intensity of purgatory for a person.

It is often said that relatively few people bypass purgatory all together. Another thing I remember reading is that some people do their purgatory on Earth. They suffer well with love and submission to the will of God, and thereby do go straight to heaven.

Yes, the promises Jesus gave on Divine Mercy Sunday are very unique and few people know them, I think.

It can get confusing on those, however. I suppose would go off topic if we were to get into it here.

As to your first question, that is not correct. Confession does not wipe away temporal punishment due to sin. You will still have to go to purgatory.

The very short answer I think you are in need of is that, No, confession is not going to get you released early from Purgatory.

Read what fredystaris posted from the CCC.

A good Confession forgives all sins, and some of the punishment due for those sins.
Yes, emphasis on the “some”. If it removed “all of the punishment” for sins that were forgiven, then the whole concept of needing an indulgence would be limited to those who either did not go to confession or who didn’t mention all their sins when they went.
