Do we know for certain the Blessed Mother's lineage?

Is it doctrine, canon, and/or dogma that Mary’s family goes back to David?
 
It is theological speculation that Mary was descended from David, based upon the inference from Scripture that Jesus’ relationship with David appears to be closer than the legal relationship he received through Joseph:
… [T]he gospel concerning his Son, who was descended from David according to the flesh… (Rom. 1:3).
