Do we see Jesus and get our judgment before going to purgatory or we go directly to our final purification, and then see God?

“purgatory” is a wrong idea of man not found in God’s word!

HEBREWS 9:27=And inasmuch as it is appointed for men to die once and after this comes judgment.

Short answer is YES, we will meet with Jesus before “Purgatory”

Jesus is our judge. IF we merit Heaven but are not yet PERFECT as our Father in Heaven is PERFECT, then we need to be made right.
Purgatory will accomplish this.

Is it a place? Is it a state? how can we know?

St. Paul tells us that this is going to happen to us. So I do believe this to be real as the Church teaches.

Purgatory

In short, even if your sins are forgiven, they’ve still stained your soul. And as we all agree (I assume), nothing unclean shall enter Heaven. Purgatory is where we get cleansed after being saved, but before being “admitted” to Heaven.

St. Paul 1st letter to the Corinthians, Chapter 3
3:10 According to the grace of God that is given to me, as a wise architect, I have laid the foundation: and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon.
3:11 For other foundation no man can lay, but that which is laid: which is Christ Jesus. 3:12 Now, if any man build upon this foundation, gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble:
3:13 Every man’s work shall be manifest. For the day of the Lord shall declare it, because it shall be revealed in fire. And the fire shall try every man’s work, of what sort it is.
3:14 If any man’s work abide, which he hath built thereupon, **he shall receive a reward. ** 3:15 If any mans work burn, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved, yet so as by fire.
For the day of the Lord shall declare it, = Judgement

The fire is Jesus, He is our Judge

**he shall receive a reward. ** = He is deemed worthy of Heaven BUT

3:15 If any mans work burn, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved, yet so as by fire.

Some argue that the fire that purify us is Jesus however the text is clear that suffering is involved. BUT the GOOD news is Heaven IS awaiting at the end.
Soo those that need it are a suffering but happy bunch 😃

Do a keyword search on this site for “Purgatory”, lots of electronic ink spilled on this topic. And YES it IS Biblical…

Well I do not know if St. Paul WAS a “little” man.
He was one of the Apostles that lived side by side with St. Peter AND died in the same city as him.
So if you think that Paul’s ideas are little, there is nothing I can say to convince you.
Pray to Jesus that He shows you the truth.

Peace be with you.

Do you believe in the Holy Trinity?

PAUL SAYS NOTHING ABOUT PURGATORY! Purgatory is a wrong idea of man. Believers go to be with GOD at death, they have been saved but it is their works that will be judged and they will receive rewards or lose rewards.

Dear OP,

my understanding is yes, we will be judge immediately upon death to determine if we are worthy of Heaven or Hell. if Hell we go straight there, if Heaven but our soul is stained we must be cleansed in purgatory so that we enter spotless. nothing unclean can enter the temple of God - Heaven. then from what i understand there will be a final judgement in front of all mankind.

YES!!! GOD IS FATHER,SON AND HOLYSPIRIT AS man is body, soul and spirit, man was created in GOD’S IMAGE!
Please point WHERE in “GOD’s WORD” you find “Trinity”

Hint, there is none 😉

THE BELIEVER IS SAVED BY HIS BELIEF AND ACCEPTING OF JESUS AS HIS LORD AND SAVIOR PAID FOR WITH THE BLOOD OF JESUS ON THAT ROMAN CROSS but his works will be judged for eternal rewards or loss of rewards.

Where does it say the word Trinity in the bible? Hmm…funny how that works…the belief in the Trinity is not specifically stated in Holy Scripture but is implied and pieces of a scripture hint to it. But it was the Catholic Church with the Bishops and the Pope in the early Church who with scripture as their backup declared faith in the Triune God.

Purgatory is implied in the Sacred Scriptures in a few places

“Truly I say to you, you will not come out of there until you have paid up the last cent.” -Matthew 5:26

43 And making a gathering, he sent twelve thousand drachms of silver to Jerusalem for sacrifice to be offered for the sins of the dead, thinking well and religiously concerning the resurrection,
44 (For if he had not hoped that they that were slain should rise again, it would have seemed superfluous and vain to pray for the dead,)
45 And because he considered that they who had fallen asleep with godliness, had great grace laid up for them.
46 It is therefore a holy and wholesome thought to pray for the dead, that they may be loosed from sins. 2 Maccabees 12:43-46

Why should we pray for the dead if they are already in heaven? We need to pray for them because they are being cleansed of their sins in purgatory. Sin cannot enter heaven, so purgatory cleanses us from our sins and prepares us for the wedding banquet.

Christ peace to my brother in Christ. 👍

Not every one that says “Jesus is my lord” will be saved.

Matthew Chapter 7

7:21 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.
7:22 Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’
7:23 Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’
