Do you agree that the devil hates Catholics more than anyone else??

Do you think just because your faith doesn’t believe in purgatory, then it isn’t there? Everyone will have to be purged of their sins in order to gain keys to His Kingdom. Christ doesn’t have a booklet with 30,000+ different denominations explained in its pages so He gets everyone’s pathways straight when they die. Wouldn’t that be a little ridiculous? There will be purgatory for ALL, not just Catholics. That IS why Catholics are hated more by the devil. Because they believe in all sorts of purifying methods for one’s soul. You’ve already dumped purgatory and the devil actually likes you for that. You have succumbed to his ways of darkness by eliminating the Light that will guide you to Heaven. He doesn’t need to pester you as much, if at all.

So, tell me, how is that rarefied air up there on that high horse you’re eated upon? And do you and joann1957 treat all of your fellow Christians with the same disdain, or just non-catholics? A thought came to me as I read your post; being a Christian, is kinda like being an American citizen! Regardless of your ethnicity, or country of origin, you can be a citizen if you meet all the requirements! Is purgatory a place or a condition? The dictionary defines it as a "temporary place or condition, in which souls that have died in penitence, wait to be purified of venial sin,or effects of sin by punishment-a belief of the Roman catholic church! Then I read 1 Corinthians 3:13-15, which says,13Every man’s work will be made manifest for the day shall declare it; because it shall be revealed by fire, and the fire will try every man’s work of what sort it is. 14If any man’s work abide which he has built thereupon he shall receive a reward.15 If any man’s work shall be burned he shall suffer loss(loss of what?) but he himself shal be saved, yet so as by fire. In these verses, does works= sin? Is this what the early church fathers taught? And when does the above “trial by fire” begin; before the first judgement seat, or after? And what works are tested; those we do or donot do after salvation? I don’t begrudge anyone believing what they believe, and I know that the Holy Spirit leads me into spirit and truth)John 16:13-14.Did Christ die for all your sins? So purgatory is a catholic term and is reserved for catholics, such as the pope is just for catholics! Empty Cross+empty tomb= victory!

We are the most hated because we are the most conservative. We are the most conservative because we have no authority. We have no authority because we are under God’s authority. Rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary, physically causes pain to demons. Since she is
the one chosen to crush his head I sure it affects him in some unpleasant way. I
often leave a video recording on cassette tape playing in my house while I run errands
with the chance it does cause demons pain.

What a great idea. I keep the Rosary playing in the background during the day while I’m on the Net. Also, I stop to say the Rosary with the tape as well.

It is not a question of who he hates more. Satan is not capable of love. He hates all of humanity, and wants to take it down with him…even his own followers.

Though an equal opportunity hater, he will ATTACK some more than others if they attempt to block him. He does not attack weak Christians, they are no threat, he attacks the strong ones. You will find weak and strong in all denominations.

For the same reason that you post on said site when you have nothing to say! Besides, I have learned a lot more about your faith than I knew before joining this forum; i just do not agree with many of your doctrines, that’s all

Why are so many people hung up on Satan hating them or their religion? Who cares if he hates you; God’s love is more than sufficient to overcome anything the enemy can throw at you! And catholics are hated no more than any other religion, so get over yourselves!

I agreee… it’s been the same with me! I think the devil sometimes attacks Catholics in more obvious ways… with some of the Saints, he even attacked them physically! he doesn’t do this so much with non believers because in many cases he’s already got them through sin if we are careful to repent our sins, go to confession, and stay humble…that just makes the devil more angry, but God is stronger and will win in the end, and has already won

yes, i have thought about that… how could Satan possibly rebel against God once he was in Heaven??? almost caused me to lose my faith (somewhat)… hmmmm

he didn’t yet have the beatific vision… angels were given a choice right when they were created… I’ve read: they were in heaven, but couldn’t yet see God, until they made their choice

I agree sort of… he hates everything but does hate some of us more. He probably hates Orthodox a lot too what a nut

When I became more devout I also have seen this. But really, the devil can’t do a thing to us unless we let him. St. Michael fights him off

The devil works in weird ways, like getting to your friends who are sinners, etc in hopes of getting to you. It’s better since then you can get rid of your ‘bad’ friends, you know?

I was just thinking this morning how during exorcisms, sometimes the demon will point out the old sins of the people assissting in a way to disconcert them, and ususally only could come up with little things they did when they were little since they’d just been to confession. If it were me, I’d say, you stupid unclean spirit, now that you’ve told me this I’ll go to confession with that, and during the next exorcism you’ve got nothing! Honestly the devil is smart, but not THAT smart. After all, you’ve got to be dumb to give up heaven, especially AFTER seeing God.

It seems like encounters with evil only make us stronger. So we can take it!:nunchuk:

Not so sure about Mary being the “Queen of Heaven,” and I don’t believe you can definitively say that he hates Mary the most! I think the devil hates God more than he hates us; we are just easier to get to. Jesus asked Paul(Saul),“Why are you persecuting Me?” Just like in law enforcement, you don’t always necessarily hate the individual policeman, but you may hate the organization he/she works for/ represents! I think claiming that the devil hates you more than anyone else, could be an indicator of a more serious problem

That’s why I’m glad I don’t have to go to purgatory And you don’t have to be a rocket scientist, to understand, that Jesus means what He says, when He said, “If you love Me., you will keep My Commandments.” But He also understands that we, by virtue of our humanness, are vulnerable to temptation, greed, selfcentered behavior, pride, lust, envy,etc.,etc.,etc.! 1John 4:20 says,“For if you say you love God, and hate your brother(I believe this includes your fellow humans),you are a liar, because God is love.” Love and hate cannot coexist, and Christ said that the second greatest Commandment was to love others as yourself. Is it hard? Yes, it is very dificult to love everyone as yourself. WE all fall short, but thanks to grace, we can repent and turn back to God for forgiveness:thumbsup:

there are scriptures that support Purg… and common sense tells us that no human is pure enough to enter heaven… Yet Rev 21;27 says that NO impure thing will enter heaven… Jesus said that few even find the narrow way to heaven… The narrow way is, in a word, the Church… the Church Christ established for us… and there is only ONE…

if you think you are pure… i uh… would argue that you are not… because you are a sinner… even when you do not sin in a big way… your heart is impure and selfish like all others…

and yet this has to be cleansed off your soul before Heaven… God has many ways to purify us if/when we cooperate… but being human we do not cooperate… or cooperate fully…

therefore the need for Purgatory…

Not trying to make it go away, because I know that catholics believe in it What I am saying, is that the verses(particularly 1Cor 3:13-15) are vague as to whether this is what purgatory is. I know that nothing impure can enter Heaven; but I also know that on that glorious day, we will be cloaked in the righteousness of Christ, and will be able to proudly enter into glory:thumbsup: What are the other verses used to support the notion of purgatory? When will the fire test a man’s works? Does the word works in 1Corinthians mean sin?

W-R-O-N-G! I believe he hates God more than he hates people But he knows that he cannot touch God, so he comes after ALL of us who are in Christ! The closer you are to God, the more problems you seem to encounter! Not everyone can be a martyr, believing that they are the ones being most hated; give me a break
