Do you agree with the fact the Sui Iuris Churches need approval from the Pope of Rome to appoint their own bishops?

The Pope is the Pope of the whole Church, not just of Rome!
Yes, but that doesn’t mean it is necessary for the pope to micromanage the entire Church. Even in the Latin Church it is a relatively recent development for the Pope to appoint all bishops around the world…

Forgive me for being slow, but is ^^ this a response to my last post, and if so are you implying that we shouldn’t call him the Pope of Rome any longer?

IIRC the title “Pope” was only ever used in Rome and Alexandria. IOW, it’s not a unique title. It’s still used in Alexandria by the Coptic Orthodox, but of course the meaning is far different than the all-inclusive “immediate jurisdiction” claimed by Rome.

True, but I’ll wager Rome is not about to concede that bit of assumed authority. 🤷

It used to bother me but now it doesn’t. Ever since I read that for Maronites that ours is the faith of Peter, the faith of Peter is our faith. If Jesus trusted him why shouldn’t we? Besides to be Catholic is to be in union with the pope in Rome.

Just wanted to make clear, that he is not just responsible for the latin Church but for the entire Catholic Church and all eastern Churches. Your expression “Pope of Rome” sounded much like if the latin Church has its Pope and the eastern Churches have their own.

Only the Copts do, but that’s beside the point. I’m asking if “Pope of the whole Church” is incompatible with “Pope of Rome”?

Yeah, its not incompatible. “Pope of Rome” is a perfectly valid title…it is a variation of “Bishop of Rome”. The Pope exercises universal primacy in his capacity as Pope of Rome. The Holy See isn’t a floating see with no particular locality…
