Do you believe in global warming?

I believe that Global temperature change has always happened.
I believe that the science has been hijacked by people that have an agenda and who have no real interest in “science” as a method.
I believe that people use this as a scare factor in a way to grasp control, money, and power and use it as a tool to wield over a population.

Does anybody here remember in the mid 70’s, Time Magazine ran their cover story saying how scientists were predicting a coming ice age? Remember the media buzz it created? Cronkite and all the media were abuzz about it. Now some of these same scientists are saying the complete opposite. And that we’re the cause of it!..

Most of the evidence would indicate that the world did indeed get hotter and substantially so, from the late 1970s through the early 2000s. Such warming has basically stopped over the last decade.

Do I think humans contributed to it? I don’t know. Probably. I also don’t care. We should be good stewards of the Earth but part of that includes raising people out of poverty. If we have to turn this planet into a worldwide parking lot in order to ensure everyone can eat, that’s what we must do.

Greenhouse emissions have risen as living standards have risen. I’ll take a slightly warmer and dirtier planet with more people eating and thriving over a cooler and slightly greener planet with people starving to death.

In addition to being a pathetically designed website, there’s no information there, interesting or otherwise. The “About Us” and “FAQ” are completely empty. No thanks. I’ll stick with the above-board, peer-reviewed science.

You, sir, are a global warming denier!!! An environmental heretic!!! You’re…you’re… I can’t think of a word!

👍:rotfl::rotfl:

Yeah I’m not a denier. I see the data. I don’t think it’s manipulated. It’s warmer today than it was in the 1970s. Period. The data indicates that the warming trend has stopped for now but it could pick up again.

I just don’t care. I think developed economies will naturally gravitate towards cleaner industry because it will be more efficient. Developing economies will need fossil fuels and we should encourage it. The more we can develop economies the more poor will be lifted out of poverty. The primary mission of being a good steward of the Earth is ensuring that members of God’s greatest creation, humanity, are not starving or dying for lack of medical care due to an undeveloped economy.

Transcript:

Anyway, at the time, unbeknownst to us, a young man in the audience, age 13, named Alex, was listening. And after hearing this sound bite, Alex called us yesterday. He was one of the most articulate 13-year-olds I’ve ever spoken to. And Alex described how he was curious about this on his own. **So he went to the library, the local library where he lives, and he looked things up. He found reference materials, and he was able to learn for himself that the manmade global warming theory, i.e., climate destruction is taking place because of manmade activity, he found it to be a hoax. **

He found the e-mails from the East Anglia University, which were back and forth amongst participants admitting that they were doctoring data, ignoring data that didn’t further their contention that humanity is to blame for the climate changing, they just left it out. They put other things in that were not true. He called here to tell me. And in the process of talking to him, learned how he found all this stuff out, I said, “Do you have a computer?” And he said, “No, my mom does and she lets me use it a couple times but I basically found this stuff out at the library.” So I said, “You know what, Alex, would you like an iPad? Ask your parents. If your parents will let me, I will give you an iPad because somebody like you could really use one. It’s light, it’s portable, battery lasts a long time. It would be ideal for somebody like you. It would be a great learning tool.”

So we put Alex on hold, his parents got on the phone and granted us permission, and so we sent him an iPad. So today, TheHill.com, I want to read to you a story. Headline: “Rush Limbaugh Gives iPad to 13-year-old Climate Skeptic – Conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh is giving an iPad to **a 13-year-old who said he found evidence that human-induced global warming is a hoax through books at a local library. ‘It was really easy for me to find this evidence, really easy,’ said Alex, who called in to Limbaugh’s show from Wilmington, Ind. ‘I believe the reason that the liberals do not have the evidence is because they do not want the evidence, they do not want to hear that it is wrong.’”
**
This is what he said to me.

Climate Depot Round Up: ‘The great warmist retreat has officially begun. The mainstream media cannot maintain the official man-made global warming narrative any longer’

I suppose this is really a four-part question.

  1. *]Do you believe that the world is becoming warmer?
*]If so, do you believe that humans are responsible for global warming?
*]What does it say about a person if he/she does or does not believe in global warming?
*]What does it say about a romantic partner if he/she does or does not believe in global warming?

    Thank you in advance.
    1. based on the evidence yes
    2. based on the evidence we are responsible for a good part of it
    3. There are many sites that unfortunately misinform people. I think many people are just misinformed these sites can be very persuasive
    4. see above

  1. Belief is certainly the right word for this.
    1. I think that man-made global-warming is overrated and a ginned-up cause to promote a devastating political agenda.
    2. Only a very small amount. It is incredibly naive for humans to think that we could have so much effect.
There are probably feedback loops that are examined very well at all in this.

Take the phrase “global warming”, for instance. The only way I see the entire planet warming consistently is a supernova explosion or massive, say even unprecedented volcanic eruption, but I’d be skeptical even then.

The law of thermodynamics are often thrown out the window to promote this nonsense. :banghead:

Don’t worry, they’ll spin it as “climate change”.

Remember 40 years ago when we’d all freeze to death?

You mean the manipulated science that’s peer-reviewed over and over by the same people who have the same opinion?

So, you didn’t actually look at the TWTW newsletters.

What I don’t want to bother with is derailing the thread or the forum. Based on what I can tell, the discussion he wants belongs on the Back Fence forum (or whatever they call it).

The OP is “do you believe in global warming”

The implied question is “do you believe in man-made global warming”

Well, obviously some have not clicked on the Greenland link … because it proves conclusively that there is NO man-made global warming … pure hoax …

Why? … because global warming and global cooling are natural and normal … and the link PROVES IT!

Check it out.

What do you have to lose?

Take a chance.

Maybe learn some new stuff about nature and what is natural and normal.

This is an excellent video. Of course the people whose minds are made up will pay no attention, or they will accuse that all of these people have been paid off by the oil companies.

I suppose this is really a four-part question.

  1. *]Do you believe that the world is becoming warmer?

  1. It depends on how long of a time period you’re looking at. youtu.be/JpfMM3bVbhQ?t=2m40s
*]If so, do you believe that humans are responsible for global warming?
For climate change? The argument is that between our way of life and our numbers, humanity is releases more carbons than ever before. Its important to know that simply breathing releases carbon dioxide. Thus climate change becomes an argument to advance negative population growth. It is not merely an argument to reduce carbon emissions realized by public transportation and industries.

Ultimately I’m not a scientist and I know the issue is controversial. Certainly we have to have some effect, but I think the effect is sensationalized. This is our modern day form of: “Repent. Repend. The end is coming.”

Like with the second coming of Christ and the end of the world, I just don’t care for the sensationalism surrounding it and ultimately doing think it matters.

I don’t care for environmentalist’s tendency to view humans as some alien invader on planet earth. Too much of this is used to advocate contraceptives, abortion and a negative birth rate. That I think is harmful.

On the other hand, I certainly think industrialization is not good for the environment. I don’t think our planet could sustain the human population if all of humanity lived an American lifestyle. I think we need to make radical changes to our lifestyle for the sake of perserving the environment. Perhaps doing that may have enough of an effect on carbon emmissions that our temperatures would be different than if we didn’t reform our way of life, but to attack political leaders and propose radical government spending projects because there was a tornado or a hurricane or whatever, I think that takes it too far. I don’t think the majority of us really knows what we’re talking about. I think some people are just afraid.
*]What does it say about a person if he/she does or does not believe in global warming?
It means that person has been exposed to different media and arguments than the person who believes in global warming. It doesn’t mean that the two people don’t have some overlap in what they’ve been exposed to. I think what we believe is greatly influenced by what opinions we’re exposed to first. The more ignorant we are, the more open we are to having our mind influenced. Once we hold an opinion, it takes a much stronger argument to convince us otherwise. Especially with long-held beliefs, we tend to cling to them and will resort to backwards thinking to defend our stance (That is we begin with the conclusion and then look for supporting evidence while writing off data that doesn’t support our opinion).

While the scientific method and philosophy helps us to evaluate the data more objectively, most of us aren’t philosphers and scientists. Rather, because philosophers and scientists are considered the intellectual experts (well sort of. Philosophy doesn’t have the repetuation it once had), we tend adopt their arguments more willingly than we would someone who did not have this status.

I don’t believe the scentific community is infallible. I don’t believe politics don’t play a part and I believe news outlets give us very filtered information. But I see no reason to panic regardles.
*]What does it say about a romantic partner if he/she does or does not believe in global warming?
??? What does it matter if the person is a romantic partner?
