One of the biggest draw backs of the big bang idea. Is the lack of ability to say exactly just where the materials for the big bang, came to be in the first place.
Only a problem for atheism. After all, the creator of the theory was Fr Georges Lemaître.
Recently there was a Big Bang in my town when some workers imploded a condemned building.
It is my understanding that the Big Bang was as burst of very high energy electromagnetic radiation, i.e. light.
So what is the problem in believing it?
That’s not a problem at all. One need not know where the material came from to know what happened with the material after it already existed.
This statement only shows that you don’t know what scientists mean when they use the term theory.
Theories that have yet to be tested are theories. Theories that have been tested numerous times are more than theories. The Big Bang theory belongs to the latter category.
That is not a drawback to any theist.
I have looked at Lemaitre and Friedmann’s solutions to Einstein’s field equations and understood their derivation of the so-called singularity that gives rise to the Big Bang. I also have been exposed to the data analysis of the COBE and WMAP missions (both well after they were published, as part of a classroom assignment during the PhD) which show the background radiation matching with the Big Bang theory’s predictions.
I have heard the same theory as to how the image of Our Lady appeared on the tilma of Juan Diego, and how that tilma has survived for over 400 years, Anyone else ever heard of this?
I’d say that big bang cosmology seems to be fairly consistent with observations thus far. I wouldn’t use the phrase “believe in” though because of some ambiguities and false equivalencies that it could lead to.
Done all the research? probably not. Even some one that occupationally engaged in the research probably doesn’t have the time and resources to do all the research. Done some of the research? Sure. But that’s going to be limited to reading on astrophysics as it’s not in my budget to get anything sophisticated into space to do investigation myself.

It’s not a problem. The origins of matter isn’t part of the Big Bang theory. The explanations of the theory itself start after there’s already densely packed matter.
I think God made the universe by causing a big bang. As the bibles account of how the universe came into being sorta sounds like a big bang. First there was nothing but darkness then…
