Do you believe you can follow God by devoting to the Catholic faith?

Why would you?

St. Paul gives us the warning about Holy Communion.

The Didache says:

How are you supposed to know if they are a baptized believer if you don’t first at least have a meeting with them? I’ve been through the process in LCMS - very painless. Meeting took 10 minutes and was told I’m welcome at their table.

Been a practice to be cautious with Communion for 2,000 years.

I applaud LCMS on this.
Hi LA

I am afraid to go of topic but I will try and stay clear.

Firstly, I have heard you saying you were Anglican and so on. No disrespect intended but it seems you have been some places on your journey to Rome?

On LCMS, I have not studied it in any way. Does closed communion mean it is for the baptised? That is what I understand. But then that is the same as Anglican? You said 10 minutes? Maybe I am confused what closed communion means?

I don’t know. On one hand, there are things in Catholicism that I would identify as idolatry (like praying to saints). On the other hand, Catholicism gets the basics right; catholics believe in the Trinity, that salvation is through Jesus alone and that the Bible is inspired by the Holy Spirit. I don’t know if Catholicism’s gospel saves. I haven’t asked the Lord very much about it.
“Praying” to Saints is NOT idolatry!!! It’s not any different then us asking each other to pray for us. What makes you think it’s idolatry? Have you been taught that??? One needs to understand what the Catholic Church really teaches before accusing Her of nonsense!!! Like worshiping Mary and Saints. NOTHING could be farther from the truth. We do NOT worship them. Love, yes! venerate, yes. ask for their prayers, you bet!! Give us a little credit for knowing the difference between worship, (God only) and love and devotion we have for Holy people. Catholics have gotten the “basics” right for over 2,000 years!! We wouldn’t even have a Bible ,(Gospel included!!) if it weren’t for the Catholic Church under the guidance of the Holy Spirit!! God Bless, Memaw

When I read about prayer in the Bible, it’s always an act of worship. I do see verses about the intercession of the Holy Spirit, but not intercession of the saints who are with the Lord.
Then you need to read the Bible much more carefully. Look it up on Catholic.com. God Bless, Memaw

I have experienced many Catholics over the years being very faithfully devoted to the Catholic faith and not living lives that exemplify faithfulness to the teachings of the Church. I don’t know how else to spell it out. People who are very religiously Catholic in every way (faithfully devoted?) , but live lives that do not give evidence to faithful obedience to the teachings of the Church.
Give us some examples of what you mean!! God Bless, Memaw
