I was having an awful morning today and while I was out gardening and thinking over all my troubles and how I need to do something, a thought popped into my head:

"Do You Believe?"

Now I knew right away that this was God talking to me. I know his voice. I immediatley answered “Yes, I do believe.”

I have been saying the 54 day rosary novena regarding peace, love and purpose coming into my life. I have felt so lonely, agitated and at a loss at what to do in my life since everything I have tried to do on my own has fallen apart in the last year. So I have given my life to God and told him I would wait, and waiting I have been doing. But let me tell you it has been so very hard to wait on God, especially since I am the sort of person who feels the need to do things or nothing gets done. That’s how I felt this morning. I felt like maybe God is waiting for me to do something (what I don’t know). I just felt like I was lettting God down by not doing anything in my life at this moment. Then the voice came:

"Do You Believe?"

I do believe in God and his power to answer my prayers. I know those prayers will not be answered immediately and not in the manner I would like however. So I answered “yes I do believe and I know that I will have much more trouble to come before your will for me comes to fruition.” I know I have to keep waiting. I know I will be lonely for a long time. I know I will feel at a loss about my life for some time to come. But I hope my belief will lead to a better life sometime and if not on earth than hopefully in the afterlife.

Has anyone else had God ask them “Do You Believe?” If so, what did you think it meant to you?

This message was like God speaking to me tonight.

Yes I do believe!

I may have to wait for who knows how long for the answer…maybe even the afterlife.

But I wait,

and I believe and love Him with all my heart.

God does talk to his “beloved!” So I believe he asked you if you believe. Hang in there and hang on to God. He is leading you to something, I believe… maybe a closer relationship with him. Do you spend time in Adoration of the Eucharist? It’s a great place to get closer to Jesus!!! Seriously!

Beautiful post. Yes, that’s right. In a very tough time, you just keep steady, keep pushing forward. He is truly there. He knows what you’re going through and He does ask that question! We just need to say Yes, I do!

I am so happy for you that God answered you during a difficult time. That is a beautiful thing to have happened.

To answer your question, He hasn’t asked me that particular question and I don’t think I have heard Him speak to me directly in words ever.
He has communicated other things in other ways from time to time.

I think the question is Do you believe that I am good? Do you believe I am listening? Do you
believe I love you and want to give you what is best for you? Do you believe I want you to be happy?

Yes that probably is the question. The answer is that I know God is good, and is listening to my prayers. I know that he loves me always.

Here is where my belief is probably not so strong: I know God WANTS to give me what is best, but that doesn’t mean he WILL. I know God WANTS me to be happy, but that doesn’t mean I WILL, at least on this earth.

I listen to so-called “prosperity preachers” who talk about how God WILL give you everything good and great that you ask for during this life. Of course, this translates mainly into money, success, comfortableness, great relationship/family, no sickness, etc, (basically a great life everyone wants to have). I have not seen that transpire in my life, and it doesn’t transpire in many people’s lives either, even if they are good Christian people who pray to God often and with heartfeltness.

Why? Is mine, and many other people’s beliefs not really belief? What happens if I believe that God WILL give me the best and make me happy in this life and the opposite happens? What if my life stays the same or gets worse? Did I not have enough belief? Was it that what God considers “best for me and happiness” is not what I consider “best for me and happiness?” Should belief be blind to circumstances, and the answer just be: “Yes, I believe you are God and can do all things and will do all things for me, whatever they are according to your will.” That way you cannot be disappointed by whatever may happen to you on this earth because God directed you according to his will.

Hard, hard concept to understand, let alone live by and accept every second of our existence on this earth, especially as we are going through hard times.

I know God is leading me to something. I don’t know what and I don’t know how long it will take me to get there unfortuately. That is part of my problem, I always want to take control and know where I’m going, for what purpose, and how long it will take to get there.

God is teaching me to wait and be patient on him. So, so hard for me to do. But each day I struggle through not knowing anything about where I’m going in my life but believing God knows and is directing me even if I seem at a standstill.

I knew nothing about the Adoration of the Eucharist until you suggested it and I looked it up. How do you participate in that in your local church?

Actually the church has Eucharistic Adoration once a week but I can’t go because of family obligations. I used to stop by first thing on my way to work in my former life… Just making the effort shows Jesus your commitment to him!
