Sorry about not replying sooner! The email to this thread got lost in the 72 other emails…Yes, that is what I meant. I know in the Orthodox Church, we cross ourselves all the time - when Mary/Theotokos is mentioned, Jesus’ name, the Trinity, etc. Once I learned that Catholics only crossed themselves for the blessings, and then the small crosses at the Gospel reading, I finally realized why some parishioners looked at me weirdly when I was constantly crossing myself.
So far, no luck, but I need to look in the Catechism and see if it’s mentioned there, because the only thing I can find is that it’s just when the Priest mentions the Trinity and gives the blessing.
