It is part of Compline.

True, me too! I do Prime,Lauds,Vespers and Compline. This works for me in being consistent in prayer. Of course this includes Psalm 50(51) daily at Lauds. I am a 70 year old woman and Benedictine Secular Oblate for 7 years by God’s grace.

Greetings Luvtosew,

However I did want to say we do spiritual direction twice a month normally. I find it most helpful to avail myself of the Sacraments considering the work that I do with deliverance ministry. Man have I got some stories that you will the hair of your neck. The demons know all of our sins and take extreme pleasure in tormenting us with them until they are confessed and absolved.

The power of Confesion is amazing.

I had to google spiritual direction to find out what it is and well I can see why you may need to go often. I’m not sure I need to hear the stories but I can only imagine they must be horrific. Yes I agree confession is a must for us all. For the work you do, I imagine its (confession) is like having a bath of your mind daily from what you have heard.

Greetubgs Luvtosew,

It is indeed true that the evil ones detest Confession. Short story that illustrates the power of confession. I had already gone to my Daily Confession and thought I had confessed everything. Later that afternoon I am involved in one of my cases (for lack of a better word). This person was cearly demon possessed. I get in there and start to pray. Things get really going and sometime during the proceedings this demon screamed out the top of his voice some of my sins that I had forgotten to take to the Confessional (granted these were not mortal sins, however the extreme shame I felt was very serious). I remember the exorcist ratwhaecet re and he just raised his eyebrow. I shatw my head and whispered, I had forgotten to confess these. FOr I had left out the line, for these and all my other sins that I cannot remember…

Well I called my Confessor who came by and met re in the front yard and went to Confession. I put in my usual line, and for any other sins that I cannot remember… I walked in after the Confession and the demon screamed that I reeked of the Confessional and pretty much was vexed because I was untouchable to it due to the Sacrament.

This is but one compellhaecexperience about the power of the Sacrament of Confession.

So if you have not been to Confession, get thee gone to Confesion.

Greetings Luvtosew,

I wanted to share another story. It was a different case, again the person was demon possessed. And the topic was the Sacraments. I will never ever forget the voice of the demon when it told us why it hated the Sacraments. Imagine it screaming “because the Sacraments are our undoing.” I have seen so much in regards to the Holy Eucharist. Sometimes I am amazed that the demons show more belief in the Real Presence than some of our brothers and sisters do.

The Sacraments are so powerful, hence I always, always when giving counsel is to have frequent recourse to the Sacraments.

Greetings to those reading this thread,

Regarding post 22 or the first post that I posted back to you Luvtosew,

The last sentence should read:

This is but one compelling story of how powerful the Sacrament of Confession can be.

For some reason this computer will not let me submit or edit my posts, I think it is because I am running IE6 on it. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

I do it once at night. Sometimes I reflect on a set of questions based on the 10 commandments, and other times I just reflect on my day and see where I may have been subject to one of the 7 deadly sins (such as pride, gluttony, or lust which seem to be my biggest temnptations).

I’ve only begun this practice the last few weeks and it’s greatly improved my virtue. I do like the idea of more frequent confession, although I’m not sure I’m going to adopt a daily practice of it.

God bless!

Greetings Bscastro,

Daily Confession is not the norm. One should not do this without the approval of one’s Confessor. There are reasons and things going on in my life that warrant that it is needful and very recommended for me to do so by my SD/Confessor.

Thank you for the clarification. In my case, I usually try to confess monthly or more often when necessary, but I was thinking of increasing it to twice monthly (or again when needed).

Greetings Bscastro,

That is a good plan, to go as often as you need to. 👍

I decided to start getting into the habit of doing one, so I did my first one last night, as it hadn’t even been 24 hours since I had last gone to Confession. Yeah, I can see why doing so is recommended. 😃 I think I will have to start up with weekly Confession again. At least I won’t have to rack my brain for the few sins I can come up with on Saturday.👍

St. Pope Pius X went to confession daily–evidently it helped him!
