Do you ever experience strong religious experiences

I know that we can never be too sure, but what is your gut feeling?

Yes. Of course. Does anyone fall in love and not feel it? Just like any relationship, there are moments of romance, moments of monotony, moments of adventure, and moments of disillusionment, sometimes even outright pain. Religious experience is constant it just might not always be what you expect.

Well, it seems I have the monotony and disillusionment down pretty well. When do we get to the good stuff?

It’s all good stuff. The peace is in that He is committed to us, no matter what!

Also, monotony only comes in “comfortable” relationships. Rejoice!
The disillusionment is a result of expecting it to be something other than what it is.

To those who much is given, even more will be expected. Rejoice over the fact that you do not have any profound religious experiences as that likely means that you are not in need of them. Those who recieve these experiences are likely recieving them either because: a) they have greater struggles with being holy or b) there is going to be much more expected of them then would be the case for an ordinary person.

Remember St. Therese’s “Little Way”… just do the absolute best you can to be holy over the matters with which you are given (no matter how small your role is) 🙂 .

God bless!

I have a lot of religious experiences and I strongly believe that God expects a lot from me. For example, it appears that God does not want me sitting around watching TV. He also expects much prayer, which keeps the religious experiences coming. The Seven Deadly sins and the Ten Commandants are forever on my mind.

I’m not trying to go against what you or anyone has experienced but can you please give me/us an example of what a strong religious experience is?

If anything I have had a strong religious experience after two seperate times after receiving good sound advice and absolution from the parish Priest.

God bless,

A strong religious experience may include knowing that salvation comes from God, beyond what our normal cognitions could suggest.

I’ve had strong experiences in the past but nothing more recently. Dry as a desert at the moment! 😦 Think God wants to wean me off consolations 👍

Ain’t that the truth…I’m pretty sure that everything I have gone through is for my family’s sake, not so much for me. Tim
