Do you ever get tongue-tied during the Creed?

I get confused between “God” and “Father” sometimes when a Mass is in English. Gloria = “…only Son of the Father.” Creed = “…only Son of God.” When saying the Creed, I will often say “…only Son of the Father.” 😛

Not so much trouble in Latin, because it’s chanted, and I’m concentrating more to pronounce it correctly.

I attended a Mass once where all of the prayers were said slooooooooowly. During the Creed I was all befuddled! It was like Estesbob said, I had enough time between lines to think of the next line—and totally lost it!

Not by the Creed–but whenever I pray the prayer “…that we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ…” during the Rosary or other prayers, I always get completely tongue-tied at the “that we may be made” 😛
I get tongue tied on that one, too.

Think that was the intent? To make us say it SLOWLY? :hmmm:

I always get confused between the Apostles Creed that we pray with the Rosary and the Divine Mercy Chaplet and the Nicene Creed that we pray as a profession of faith at Mass. For that reason, I ALWAYS us either a cheat sheet I typed up for Rosary time (which includes the Mysteries - another sticky point) or my Magnificat at Mass. If the Priest can/should/must read from the (book he reads from) then so can I 😃

book he reads from = Sacramentary ???
I think everyone messes up from time to time. I CAN pray it without the text, but I have been reading it from the hymnal where it is printed. I think it helps those around me be assured that someone in the group around them is reading it and will help them keep on track. I, too, tend to get parts mixed up with the Apostles’ Creed, which is so similar.

I do wonder why there are not commas between the words “…one holy catholic apostolic church.” I’ve been meaning to ask our pastor, but keep forgetting.

God bless,
Mimi

I don’t really forget the words or confuse the Nicene creed for the Apostle’s creed, I just…well, fumble the words. Like “In fulfillment of the scriptures”…comes out, “In fufilment of fe scipters”…:o

Am I making any sense? :o
