Sometimes I do. I mean, we all know about St. Peter and the gate, but what lies beyond that? Is it a city? Is it just vast expanse populated by all good souls? Does it even have a structure to it? Or is it what our minds perceive it to be? And what would be there, do you think?

Just wondering what other people had to say about this.

Lotsa singing, I’ll finally be able to sing gloriously, lotsa laughing, excitement because we get to meet everyone, and every imaginable kind of chocolate and then some.

If you remember having had a serious illness or accident but now all your old chronic ailments are healing, and every day is a pleasant one, and you are getting every licit thing you ever craved and you even find you’re getting younger …

Rejoice, you’re in Heaven!

I’ve thought about it, even though the Bible says it’s beyond anything ever imagined…

I have imagined our arrival at Heaven. I imagine that we will arrive on a beautiful barque (ship). The shores of Heaven, will be glistening silver. And the gently lapping waves, a crystal clear… blue. The sky above, blazing with the glory of God! Beyond that, a garden of unimagineable beauty… with the City of Heaven, a little ways, in the distance.

On a lone, golden path… lined with jewel-like flowers and shrubs… we will see Our Lord approach to greet each and every one of us, on our arrival. His Face will radiate the JOY of receiving His “little one”, safely Home. And as He envelops us in His loving embrace, whatever is left over of our finite human love, will burst… into a final, complete, eternal love for God. Our dear Lord, will then lead each of us to the “place” He has lovingly prepared for us.

Oh what joy! To imagine this. Dear Lord, help me… a poor sinner… to repent, and amend my life… so that I might spend my eternity, at Your Feet. Amen.

My mom passed away a year ago from throat cancer. Although she did get baptised in a Christian church a couple of months before she died, she was basically unchurched and had a very fragile faith. I struggled with trying to bring her closer to Christ, because what she was dealing with was so difficult and I wanted for her to have some peace so badly. Anyway, one day shortly before she died, I asked “Do you ever think about what heaven will be like?” She was totally taken aback, but said "I think I’ll have a job to do (she was a very efficient worker and really into her job) and I think I’ll never have to go camping again (a dig on my Dad…ouch). I thought that was interesting. As I was sitting by her side during her last days, I was reading “Mother Angelica’s Answers, Not Promises”. One of the last chapters is about heaven. I about fell over when I read words to the effect of “We will all have jobs in heaven, but not the kinds of jobs we had on earth. We won’t be doing the kinds of jobs we had here because those were the jobs we did to pay the bills. In heaven, our job will be to pray for those we love.” Gosh…I’m tearing up even now. ANYWAY…I think about how terrified my mom looked at the end and how feeble my “It’s going to be okay” reassurance felt, but I know I’ve got a prayer warrior up there because she always put 110% into her work.

Wow! I sure hope Heaven is the way you describe!! 🙂 I do imagine Jesus greeting us this way. And I think we will have jobs to do (no idea what), in addition to praying for our loved ones.

One things for sure…we will NEVER be bored there even in eternity…how God does this is beyond human comprehension. 😃

Harps and choir and Mass all day long! 👍

Seriously though, I tend to think of it like with God; If you can think it or imagine it, it can’t be God, since He is beyond all mere mortal thought. Same with Heaven, beyond mortal thought.

Agree, very true.

“Eye has not seen nor ear heard,
Nor has it entered into the heart of man,
What things God has prepared for those
who love Him” (1 Corinthians 2:9)

I suppose Our Lord might chuckle… in a loving way… at our childish imaginings of what His Heaven is truly like. But we must remember that "Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of Lights… (James 1:17).

I think this would include spiritual consolations, such as when we try to imagine our Heavenly Home. Because such thoughts might encourage us to repent of our sins, and strive to be better disciples of Our Lord Jesus. God bless.

I assume the whole universe is a whisper of the beauty God has made in Heaven. There must be swirling colors, flowing rivers of glowing water, mists, nebulae of sparkling lights and also livinghtings: rainforests with thousands of unique birds, green meadows dotted with tiny wildfowers, desert dunes bursting with springs and long curtains of grey lichen hanging from fern-nursing evergreens with branches wide and low enough to sleep on…and a city made entirely of jewels, stones, precious metals, textiles and woods unknown on earth. I also think there will be animals – the ones that suffered here will be remade so as to give them and us joy. No one will ever hurt them again. Maybe they’ll be there only temporarily but I think they will be given that reward and consolation, if only because it means so much to so many humans. And we will see our loved ones, and our enemies, which is one reason we have to make peace with them.

I imagine everyone will be cleansed of all sins, permanently, and everyone’s minds will return to a child-state, where we are greatly moved of simple pleasures and innocence.

Hey, maybe we’ll finally be able to take things for granted and not have to worry about it!
